Arctic ice cap grows 29% in one year

Global warming hysterics at the BBC warned us in 2007 that by summer 2013, the Arctic would be ice-free. As with so many other doomsday predictions by warmists, the results turn out to be quite the opposite. The UK Daily Mail reports:

A chilly Arctic summer has left 533,000 more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year - an increase of 29 per cent. (snip)

...days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia's northern shores.

The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year. More than 20 yachts that had planned to sail it have been left ice-bound and a cruise ship attempting the route was forced to turn back.

A cruise ship did go through in September. There was more ice, but the passage was not blocked. While that ship made it, they had to detour a bit based on real time ice reports and the Canadian kept ice breakers on standby. Cruising the NW passage is a multi-million dollar business so they will do it with or without ice.

Present liberals with the statistics that show the whole "global warming science" is junk, and they STILL cling to the notion of some 98% of scientists concluding the presence of man-made factors as a cause for "climate change." The liberals, trained monkeys as they are on this subject, almost universally disdain any counter-argument to their propaganda. The fun is when you try to get them to acknowledge the conclusions of scientists back in the late '70s about the coming Ice Age. They won't reply back about it... they won't touch the subject. They'll just spit some invective at you and go back to Square One (i.e. "consensus".. "settled science," etc.).
