Ran across this and though I don't agree with about half, it still isn't a bad list. I do think the 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles' did a good arch and had a good finish. 'Star Trek: Enterprise' spent far to much time on time travel. I had forgotten 'Space Above and Beyond', which I thought to be very good. And lastly he left off two programs which I believe should have been on the list 'Brimestone' and 'Alien Nation.

“Other World”... liked the concept. Half a season.

I agree with you on “Alien Nation”. It was one of my favorites.

Wow, I haven’t watched a single episode of any of these shows. I haven’t even heard of most of them. I’m afraid there are way more non-sci fi viewers like me than ardent fanatics to suit advertisers’ tastes.

I think the problem is that after a while the original idea played itself out and the series goes lukewarm. It would not be a bad idea to have limited series like they do in many countries, something like 16-20 episodes.

Heroes ended about the right time. They couldn’t figure out how to end it.

#1 and #2 are certainly spot-on. I think everything else on the list can be argued one way or the other, but Firefly and S:AAB were two very good shows that died way too young.

Wow. Was the writer of this piece born in 1990, having no access to retro cable channels or UHF?

Well, I vote for “Logans Run”!

Agree on “Space: Above and Beyond”. Gotta love a show with “Chiggy von Richtofen”.

S:AAB seemed to want to become Space 90210, although it could have been so much better

Lots of shows take time for characters and plots to really develop but few viewers have the patience to let it happen.

Firefly, Threshold and Farscape were fun and interesting.

Journeyman OTOH, had the most intriguing underlying premises, a fascinating storyline that really drew me in and characters you could care about.

Stargate Universe sucked due to it focusing on being a soap opera with political issues crammed into the script.
It was a mercy kill.
By the time the writers started writing sci fi and not soap opera crap, it was far too late, and even then they STILL refused to give up the soap opera crap.

Jericho?
Another show that had left leaning agitprop.
See the nuke episodes.

Stargate: Universe could have been so much better without the communication stones to make so many Earth episodes and without the homo propaganda

One series that deserves the list was The Lost Room. It was aborted after the pilot miniseries, probably because it was faaaar too "cerebral" for the average TV viewing dolt.

“They made a “Logan’s Run” series? and why?”

Why not? It was the 70’s and there was an excess of spandex.

Eight of twenty, I can agree with. (2, 4, 7, 10, 14, 15, 18, 20). However, V (12), is one where I thought it was on too long (partly because it was kept in place of a better show on this list as cut too soon.)
