Still in love with the singer from Yaz. That voice literally gives me goosebumps, and nothing makes me hate my Chronic White Rhythm (CWR) more than their music

I remember the hots I had for Alannah Myles when "Black Velvet" came out...not bad...kind of weird with the gray patch there, but she's aged pretty nicely.

She looks familiar...very pretty. Will have to look up music later.

What, they forgot Terry Jacks who started the whole artistic movement?

OMG, I’d completely forgotten about her. Yes, great voice then, and it’s good to know she’s kept it. Her good looks? Not so much.

It took her awhile to go solo but she's more respected than she was back in the day.

Is that "Seasons In The Sun" Terry Jacks?

I hated that song.

Blondie was “so old” at the time. She’s 68 years old.

I was in Forever 21 with my daughter yesterday and the Bananarama Over-Alls are back in fashion. Really, all the 80s looks are back.

Funny, the 80s seem so innocent compared to today.

Made me sad for what’s happened to women in rock since then, now they’re pretty much just cookie cutter divas and the casual listener can’t even tell one from the other.

Things go in cycles. And yeah, it's cookie cutter divas now.

I saw a British article that tallied how many of the top performers now are solo or duets. The "group" sound is not buzz worthy these days. Media is focused on "celebrity", not assemblages. George Martin marketed the Beatles as 4 distinct personalities. Initially he wasn't even a fan on their music.

If you've ever watched any of her early music videos, it's clear that she is quite the artsy type who is more than a little eccentric.

I started listening to her music in college when most of my friends were focused on metal/hair. They didn't know what to think when they heard her sing, but many of them ended up buying her music. She has a truly unique voice and incredible range.

I always like the band Renaissance, and until I heard Kate Bush, Annie Haslam was, by far, my favorite singer. Naturally, my friends at the time were not fans, and referred to the music as "church" music. This opinion lasted only until they had "heightened their awareness" and put the head phones on to listen.

I just ordered a couple CD's of Bush and Haslam from Amazon as a Christmas present to myself. This was a good thread. :^)

Wow, forgot about Kraftwerk. Listened to them in college, late 70’s.

Aye. Never much of a looker. But she was a bad ass. And, yes, I know a complete leftist tool. Still LOVE her though. Had them playing on my phone as I went running this AM as a matter of fact.

Some aging more gracefully than others.

For the guys, U2 and The Police look great. I didn't know Sting was speaking with the others.

For the girls, Deborah Harry, The Go-gos and Bananarama look great.

Billy Idol? Yeesh.

My favorite New Wave/Punk bands were The Clash, Talking Heads, U2, Blondie, The Ramones (I love "Rock and Roll Radio"!) and Elvis Costello (Why doesn't "What's so Funny About Peace Love and Understanding?" get any respect?).

Kraftwerk was better when they still used the flute, instead of going all electronic.

I’ve gotten into Krautrock recently, with bands like “Can” and “Neu”. So much great stuff from the 70s that no one has heard.

Bryan Ferry still looks great.

Everyone should have "Avalon" in their collection. Perfect record, er, CD.

I remember a loooong time ago Billy Idol played in Albany. The big talk of the town was how he was in a bar that catered to the punkers (on Lark Street for any Albany freepers) trying to score heroin. 20 years ago that was taboo.

He certainly has that Keith Richards glow about him.
