NFL officials are ready for all contingencies related to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. Even if it means staging the game on a different day. Possibly even a different week.
Although every Giants and Jets game has been played as scheduled at MetLife Stadium and Giants Stadium -- going all the way back to 1976 for the Giants, to 1984 for the Jets -- officials have plans in place for a weather event that could change the day of the game from its scheduled Feb. 2 date.

We’re becoming a nation of “sissies”. check you tube- 1948 NFL Championship game- even the players helped move the tarp
If the plans are for a blizzard - then they are appropriate.
You know - the REAL blizzard that literally closes the airports, gets the streets closed, etc.
Green Bay, to its credit, understands the difference between a good snowstorm and a dangerous blizzard. Dangerous blizzards are rare.
Giant f’n pussies.
Make them play in lingerie.
The rest of us, meanwhile, are expected to show up for work as usual unless the roads are closed.
I grew up in upstate New York, and remember many winter mornings walking in 8-12 inches of snow toward school, griping about the unfairness.
Then I grew up... (somewhat - LOL)
If a big event doesn’t plan for “acts of God” (can we say that anymore?), then they are failing to plan, and hence planning to fail.
Preseason would be in September and regular season would start in October. No damn way they should be suiting up and playing in the August heat, even exhibition.
Baseball is a whole other story. The World Series should be done in the middle of October. Unlike football, it is not a game intended to be played in the snow and rain. Yeah, I know about revenue. But if they can't reduce the 162 game schedule, then they could start the schedule in mid March in more southern climates.
NHL is less of a problem because it is an indoor sport. But I still think it is ridiculous to be holding Stanley Cup play-offs in June!
I agree. Football is a very tough sport but damn if the NFL management is not turning into a bunch of p***ies!
One of the items still on my bucket list if a Green Bay home game.
I watched a game in the freezing rain in Buffalo. I had a lot of fun watching it. What a crazy game that was.
Just tell ‘em the Packers are playing. The drunks will fill the place.
C’mon...if it’s snowing and windy, the sideline gal/reporterette’s hair will be mussed and look bad on TV. We can’t have that ! /s
Ops33,
There is nothing like a home Packer game. I hope you can get to one sometime!
Ask that punter from Cincy how soft the game is these days, LOL.
Lame.
Maybe the NFL should have Wilson come up with a version of the “brazuca”.
If it’s on Ipanema Beach in Rio, I wouldn’t mind.
