I swear, I hear another person say “the kidses fathers” when speaking about three children with one father, I’ll vomit at them in such a way as to cause projectile damage.
I hate NY so much.

I’m running Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP, and the link tells me I cannot take the quiz because my browser is out of date.

So either The NY Times is on the cutting edge of technology or I’m hopelessly stuck in the past.

“Bleeearrghagarbble!”

Port Jervis NY.
A location that would deserve a zombie invasion, but the shambling hordes would starve.

I didn’t think anyone still ran IE. Many sites require chrome or Firefox to navigate.

I took a similar test a while back, this is what it gave me:

It's right on the money.

I got either Madison, WI, which is only about 500 miles off, or Stockton, CA, which is only a couple of thousand miles off. I grew up in Omaha, by the way.

Yankees leave off the “r” in car but add it to “idea” (idear) to make up for it.

Well, it nailed my speech patterns. I was born and raised in the city of Chicago. The three cities it lists for me are all near one another in northern Illinois: Chicago, Aurora, and Rockford.

Southern tier of the state here.
So you get all manner of....dialects.
“Appalachia” isn’t a dialect, but by God it should be.
And it would be centered on Port.
“Snuffy Smith meets Little Abner” best describes it.

Wife and I both took the test, however midway she or I got different questions. I guess the questions change as you go along to help nail your base.

It worked for me mainly for the night before Halloween question. The “mischief night” term apparently is only used in the NYC vicinity.

How do you pronounce that region? Appa-LATCH-ah or or Appa-LAITCH-ah? It's former for me.

I took the test three times, and it is pretty accurate for me. Hubby took it three times. The first and third times for him gave the same results in three Southeastern cities. His second try put him in AZ. One of our daughters took the test twice. The first results put her in three cities nowhere near anywhere we have ever lived. The second try put her in three different regions. She has lived all over (as have hubby and I), but she has never lived in any of the places that showed up in her results.
