I love this movie. Originals are almost always so much better than re-makes.

Spencer Tracy - America’s best actor ever.

As a flight instructor and WWII buff, this movie is great. Spencer Tracy’s ghost riding along with the ‘solo’ student was hilarious.

This post is a Christmas gift to me! Thank you so much. I really love this movie, and it’s been so long since I’ve seen it. I know they tried to re-make it with some forest-fire-fighting story; there’s just no way to substitute any actor for Spencer Tracy.
Though I appreciate his connection to Hepburn, in this film, Irene Dunn does a superb job of “loving” two different men. She is the cog that moves the entire story.
Van Johnson is the perfect “young gun.” He captures the essence of what made the Tracy character so appealing to Dunn.
What a movie! Thanks again for the reminder!
Merry Christmas!
