Police: CBS reporter charged with DUI, battery
By Adam Sege Tribune reporter

An investigative reporter for CBS 2 Chicago was charged with driving under the influence and endangering the lives of children after a minor accident outside a Naperville fast food restaurant early Saturday, police said.
Dave Savini, whose age was not released, was arrested shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday after fleeing the scene of the accident, Naperville Police Department Cmdr. Jason Arres said.
Police were alerted about 12:20 a.m. to an incident involving Savini and another driver in the parking lot of a Taco Bell in the 1200 block of Rickert Drive, Arres said.
Following a minor accident, the other driver attempted to photograph Savini's license plate, Arres said. Police believe Savini pushed the other driver and fled the scene in a vehicle with two children under 18 inside.

"Before joining CBS 2 Chiago, Savini worked at WMAQ-TV in Chicago as an investigative reporter (1993-2004). In 2003, Savini won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for his series Code Blue, Code Red, which investigated law enforcement officials and exposed 250 drunk-driving offenders among Chicago police officers, firefighters and paramedics."
I guess the police were waiting for the operative time for pay back.
“The driver of the other vehicle told police that he wanted to report the collision to police, but Savini refused, Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said. The driver said Savini pushed him when he took a photograph of Savini’s license plate with his phone, Cammiso said.”
“But hell forever be remembered for Hidden Hotel Horrors, the 3½-minute sweeps piece he delivered in 1996 in which he pointed out splotches of semen, vaginal fluid and blood by showing an ultraviolet light passed over the bedding in three Chicago area hotel rooms.”

My guess is that if he Hadn’t been drinking and driving they wouldn’t have arrested him.
NEVER pi$$ off the police, carma can be a bit@h
To take it a step further, if he hadn’t been drinking, he wouldn’t have done anything to be arrested for.
How young were the minors in the car? How did he relate to them?
Looks like he was investigating the bottom of a Jack Daniels bottle. :-)
In this case ‘camera’ can be a bit@h.
Karma?
next he’ll try out for the Vikings.
/bingo
Savini shouldn't have a beer within 50 miles of Chicago...
Yeah, sounds like some “served cold” payback. Napierville is a ‘wired-in’ Chicago ‘burb.
Dang I figured this story was coming out of DC.
I guess it stands to reason that no Chicago cop will cut him any slack.
BTW, I know Naperville well. They are very aggressive with their DUI busts.
“I guess it stands to reason that no Chicago cop will cut him any slack. “ Whether they do or not, suburban Naperville in Will County arrested the reporter not CPD.
