Two North Carolina parents are in shock after local police shot and killed their 18-year-old son in their own home, while they watched helplessly.
The family called police because they were worried about their son, Keith Vidal, who is schizophrenic and suffers from depression, according to local news. Vidal, armed with a small screwdriver, was apparently having a psychotic episode. Mark Wilsey, Vidals father, called the authorities to help deal with the situation.
An officer from the Brunswick County Sheriffs Office and another from the Boiling Spring Lakes police department showed up to the house soon after. Eventually, a third officer from the Southport police department entered the home as well, and ordered the use of tasers to subdue Vidal. According to Wilsey, Vidal was pinned on the ground by two of the officers when a third said, we dont have time for this, and shot Vidal, killing him.
Vidal had just turned 18, and weighed a mere 90 pounds. He couldnt have hurt anyone with the screwdriver, and had no history of violence according to family and friends.
There was no reason to shoot this kid, said Wilsey in a statement. They killed my son in cold blood. We called for help and they killed my son.
After her son was killed, Vidals mother suffered a mental breakdown and was treated by medical staff.
The New Brunswick County Sheriffs Office told The Daily Caller that no statement has been released yet, but the district attorney and state investigators are looking into the shooting.
A similar thing happened to a Georgia family in October. (RELATED: Family calls 911 for medical help, cops show up and kill son)
Irregardless of my last statement you are correct.
We don’t know what really happened.
I do believe the situation would have had to be extreme to justify shooting him. He was just a small guy and there were three officers there. How many does it take? It seems by weight alone they could have subdued him. Unless he had a gun or something.
Wilsui says everything was under control until a third officer arrived, and the situation took a dramatic turn.
Murder. They murdered our son for no reason, Wilsui said. “Everything was going good, then this fat cop from Southport walks in the room, walks around the corner, says, ‘we don’t have time for this. Tase that kid now, lets get him out of here.’”
Wilsui says like any teenage boy, his son tried to run when he heard the word tase.
“The tasers hit him, he fell back. Two officers were on top of him. You know, he’s got the little screwdriver. I mean, I would have went and got the screwdriver from him. I went to help, and I hear a shot, Wilsui explained.
Wilsui says he grabbed the officer so he could not shoot again.
>> he was tasered first and then shot
When you’re too lazy to attain decent shooting skills, the taser makes it easier to get the kill.
The time they save on target practice at the range gives the officer more time for union meetings, watching teevee, taking steroids, working out at the gym, &etc,
“I would hesitate to condemn our men” you say? Oh but it is just fine for to you condemn the grieving family with this beauty: “It is more likely the family invented this statement in order to set the stage for suing”. You jackboot cop-suckers are real pieces of work.
yeah dont call the cops unless you want someone killed or arrested..
BUT FIRST...they will kill the family dog. I think that’s Rule #1.
They should have called a plumber instead.
BTW how’s the family dog???
Many years ago a plumber in New Orleans, came out from under a house with a wrench, and was killed by police before he knew what was going on.

I said that was the “most likely” situation, and that’s just a fact. Believe it or not, people are liars. I’ve seen it, I’ve heard it, and I’ve known it. People lie, make up stories, exaggerate claims, even when the whole incident is caught on camera. ‘This cop kicked the **** out of me!”, and then the dash cam has them throwing punches and initiating the fight. And I would expect this to be a lie than thinking that a cop would, without hesitation, shoot someone on the basis of “saving time,’ when there are lawyers and civil rights attorneys and internal investigations that could land you in prison for the rest of your life. This is the kind of stuff you believe in, without question, if your life were a cartoon, or if you’re a Liberal trying to abolish the second amendment or play up alleged institutional racism in our law enforcement.
Only the police and military can be trusted with guns. They have special training.
Thank you! My Hub is a retired police officer, our son and son-in-law are active police officers in 2 large cities here in Texas. We have a few on this site that broad-brush when it comes to police officers. I too find it hard to believe an officer would willingly shoot a kid that’s down for no reason at all.
By the way, the “grieving family” bit. What about Travyon’s ‘Greiving family?” They had their criminal son, this thug with photos of himself with pistols, smoking pot, and giving the finger, made into a martyr on the basis of their ‘greiving’ and their false claims to the media.
You think that doesn’t happen against Cops too? Was Zimmerman vulnerable to outright lies from even the “grieving family” because he wasn’t a cop?
C’mon now. You guys need to grow up and stop trying to try people in the media. I’m sure there are plenty of bad cops out there. But, calling cops “animals,” and other such things, based on a news story, is just outright stupid.
Go head over to DU, the whole lot of you, who sit there spitting on our law enforcement as a whole.
New flash: cops are people.
Your post did nothing for most of us that come to FR to actually try to find "the truth". A waste of time was your post.
Yep, cops lie all the time.
Well.. there Ya have it. When they started shooting dogs some of us figured they would not stop there.
The police are no longer there to protect or serve.
One thing in the story I don’t agree with. A screw driver is a weapon even in the hands of a 90 pound boy.
My heart goes out to the family.
” Believe it or not, people are liars. Ive seen it, Ive heard it, and Ive known it.
Your delusional you _puny _human. This is SOP for cops...
