Mesmerizing! Mom downs 72-ounce steak in under 3 minutes (shatters record)
Today ^ | 1/10/14 | Danika Fears

Posted on 01/10/2014 3:33:17 PM PST by Libloather

Nebraska resident Molly Schuyler plowed through a 12-pound sandwich with a 1-pound side of fries in 54 minutes. The very next evening, the 125-pound mother of four mauled a 72-ounce steak in just 2 minutes and 44 seconds “on a whim.” She followed that up with a burger an hour later and now, she's a minor celebrity.

“It really wasn’t any work at all,” the 34-year-old told TODAY.com. “I was just going through the motions.”

As a 22 year old Idaho logger I happened to take a date to a Portland, Ore. restaurant that offered a 5lb. steak, potatoes and veggies for free if you could eat it all within an hour. I forget what my date had...but that’s all I had to pay for.

She was taking small bites and swallowing them whole, not big bites and chewing. She attacked the steak tactically like an ear of corn.

I really hope she has a hyperactive digestive system. Or puked later. Because I cannot envision what the, shall we say, ‘end result’ would be like with that level of unchewed steak passing through one’s system.

Not sure there would be an end result without surgery.

I ate a 64oz porterhouse at Morton’s because my gunsmith didn’t think I could. I made sure I didn’t order any sides, or drinks. It took me more than an hour. Of that, I’m sure.

Funny, he just called a few minutes ago, and said he wants to take me there again next week.

The biggest eaters I know are all slender, super metabolism. When my husband was younger he would eat a snack of 4 whoppers. When he turned 45, he put a little weight on and dialed back the eating. I think heavy/obese people typically do not eat as much as one would think.

I don’t believe so. Was that in Portland? A place I found around that same time (early ‘70’s) was “The Goose Hollow Inn” owned by the eventual Mayor of Portland. They had the best Reubens I’ve ever eaten, also smoke free nights and chess nights. I loved that place!

Actually, I have no recollection of the name of the place. My impression, lo these many years later, was that you wouldn’t expect a place that classy to make that offer. If that helps at all.

Sayler’s was in Portland or the ‘burbs somewhere- it’s been a long time. They had a steak that was the size of my head that was free if you could eat it and the accompaniments within some defined time limit.

Never been a competitive eater, so I just had a quite-decent prime rib with (at my request), ‘weapons-grade horseradish’.

I could go there again. Haven’t been there since the Nineties so I don’t know if it’s changed, but it was good eating back then.

The Big Texan Steak Ranch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Texan_Steak_Ranch

The Big Texan Steak Ranch is a steakhouse restaurant and motel located in Amarillo, Texas, United States which opened on the previous U.S. Route 66 in the 4500 block of East Amarillo Boulevard in 1960 and moved to its present location on Interstate 40 in 1970. Fire gutted the west wing of the restaurant in 1976 and destroyed $100,000 in antiques. The restaurant reopened as a larger facility in 1977. The building is painted a bright yellow, with blue trim. A large cow statue advertises their free 72 oz. steak (see below). The now-closed Texas Tornado Museum resided off in a far corner of the parking lot on the property.[

The Big Texan is best known for its 72 ounce (4.5 pounds or 2.04 kg) steak, nicknamed “The Texas King.” The steak is free to anyone who, in one hour or less, can eat the entire meal, consisting of the steak itself, plus bread roll with butter, baked potato, ranch beans, shrimp cocktail, and salad; otherwise, the meal costs $72.00.[3] Those who have successfully consumed the Texas King meal have their names recorded and posted at the restaurant. As of March 15, 2011, over 8,800 people out of about 50,000 have accomplished this feat.

Those who take on the Texas King challenge are required to pay for the meal in advance, and if they are successful, their money is refunded. The steak is cooked to the participant’s preference, and the challenge takes place at a table for one on a raised platform in the middle of the main dining room.

The record for the shortest time needed to finish the entire Texas King meal is held by competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut. He finished the challenge in 8 minutes and 52 seconds, breaking Frank Pastore’s 1987 record (of 9½ minutes, which stood for 21 years) on his March 24, 2008 visit. The unofficial record is held by a 500-pound Siberian Tiger, who ate the steak in 90 seconds.

To quote one of the other eaters, I couldn’t look away, and it was disturbing. That is skill bordering on being a disorder in today’s world. Imagine that at one time, when Dino’s roamed the earth, all adult homosapiens had to eat and run, run RUN! just that way. See how primitive her eyes appear, darting protectively left and right, ready to guard her kill. What if the waiter made a mistake, gave her the ‘wrong plate’ and tried to take the food away. Woe be unto that waiter if that lady catches up to them.
