[Vanity] Cannot Find A New Doctor Under My Employer Plan Since Year End
Self | 1/19/14 | Fwdude

Posted on 01/19/2014 2:32:55 PM PST by fwdude

My family doctor of over 12 years "retired" from practice at the end of last year. In his letter to his patients, he wasn't subtle about a main reason being radical changes in the healthcare industry starting in 2014.

Since then, I've searched the directory of my insurer's website for a replacement, with little luck. Call me an "Islamophobe," but I refuse to establish a doctor/patient relationship with someone with a Muslim-sounding name, which now seem to proliferated in the directory under these bottom-of-the-barrel street corner emergency clinics (which I consider training grounds.) When I called several safe-sounding doctors after doing some cursory research, I learned that they were no longer in practice either.

This is getting really scary. Has anyone else had a similar experience since last year and are finding themselves doctor-less for the first time in their life?

Damn Obama!!!

I go to a clinic and my dr is from Pakistan. I went to my regular dr Thursday. When the nurse checked my bp, it was the highest it has ever been-—198/100. When I go to the clinic it is 120/80 but when I had to go to the ER last year, It was 110/75. There is something about my dr that cuses my bp to change. My eye had been hurting for a few days before then and was still hurting so that had something to do with it. I have an appt with an eye surgeon next month. Oh, the day before my dr’s appt, was thev10th anniversary of my daughter’s death and he said that had a lot to do with it. I told my family that itbwasca good thing undid not haveva dr’s appt today deter what happened yesterday.
I have been sick so was in a recliner by the front window. I heard a truck so glanced out the window. A black truck had pulled up by my car from the other direction and while I was watching, my trunk opened while he was still in his truck. How and why?

I used an Indian doctor for several years. He was as good as they come,
a christian, even held a song/prayer service in his office ever Friday
morning before opening for patients. Point being don’t get to hung up on
names but rather try to find out about them if you can find anyone that
uses them.

I think you better check into things deeper before you throw the name leftist troll around. I’ve been on FR for 10 years, longer than you and I don’t believe I’ve ever said something similar to someone here.

Your obvious prejudices are quite likely going to hurt you in the future when you can’t find any other doctor, but so be it.

Learn the difference between Islamic names and Indian names.

Indian names like Gupta or Singh are usually OK.

I’ve been here under a former name since the 2000 election. Anyway, longevity don’t mean squat when ideology is apparent.

I don't blame the doctors for retiring or refusing a pittance for their professional services. I blame the DIMocRATs and the anti-Freedom crowd that supports them.

Think what you like. Several on this thread are telling you the same thing, only being more courteous about it. You’re a great example of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

If you’re in an ER and dying are you going to say you don’t want treatment by anyone with a Muslim sounding name?

I have no ill will toward my former doctor, in fact I support his decision.

If more would shrug people would sit up and notice.

Either that, or his ‘prejudices’ will save his life.

They aren’t really ‘prejudices’, they are ‘postjudices’, perhaps based on evidence already discussed here on FR.

We're not discussing emergency cases here, now are we?

If,by chance, your handle means “Fort Worth Dude” your situation is probably easily solved...but that solution might mean looking to Dallas,or its suburbs, for a doctor.Baylor,in Dallas,is sure to have primary care doctors who are skilled, not moslem, and part of your plan. It's my understanding that Fort Worth isn't all *that* far from Dallas's suburbs...or the city itself.

Let's but this into perspective by changing your sentence to how I see things, then you can give your opinion back.

"If you’re in an ER and dying are you going to say you don’t want treatment by anyone with a name that sounds similar to the names of those pilots who tried to fly their planes full of passengers into the ground because the doctor might have the same attitudes about infidels?"

Yes, Fort Worth. Far west side is the problem. A Dallas drive would mean a good hour or more, in good traffic.

Learn the difference between Islamic names and Indian names.

I think you mean between Muslim and Hindu names. Or something.

Anyway, India is 13.4% Muslim.

Everyone is not the same as the people that did 9/11. Really.

Are you the same as the people that lynched black people or used blacks as slaves? I think not.

I was very sorry to lose my Muslim PA last ever. No else else has ever sat and listened like she would. She would also let me kid her a little about being Muslim here where we have few.

I’m sorry you lost someone like that - good providers are hard to find. I hope you have a good one now!

Hispanic this time. Has a good reputation. I have actually not seen any correlation between ethnicity or national origin and competency. Seems to have more to do with personality characteristics. There would be exceptions in certain specialties which are not as advanced in some particular country (yet).
