Cops bloody old man — for jaywalking
NY Post ^ | 1-19-14 | Kevin Sheehan

Cops bloodied an 84-year-old man and put him in the hospital Sunday when he jaywalked at an Upper West Side intersection and didn’t appear to understand their orders to stop, witnesses said.

Kang Wong was strolling north on Broadway and crossing 96th Street at around 5 p.m., when an officer told him to halt because he had walked against the light.

Police were targeting jaywalkers in the area following the third pedestrian fatality this month around West 96th Street.

Wong, who lives a block away, appeared to not understand the cop, the witnesses said.

“The guy didn’t seem to speak English. The cop walked him over to the Citibank” near the northeast corner of 96th and Broadway, said one witness, Ian King, a Fordham University law student.

“[The officer] stood him up against the wall and was trying to write him a ticket. The man didn’t seem to understand, and he started walking away.

“The cop tried to pull him back, and that’s when he began to struggle with the cop,” said King, 24. “As soon as he pushed the cop, it was like cops started running in from everywhere.”

Wong was left bleeding and dazed with cuts to his face.

It takes a very special kind of person to strike an old man.

That special kind of person should be expressly screened OUT of law enforcement. Right now, they're being shielded, and I am increasingly outraged.

As someone elsewhere stated, the silence of the "moderate" Muslim community in the face of Islamic terrorism, is deafening. The silence of honest, ethical cops is deafening.

At the same time, unless Kang Wong is the great-grandson of Kwai Chang Kaine, I’m not seeing why you’d need multiple officers to restrain an 84 year old man, much less have a scuffle that leaves his neck covered in blood.

So it's not weird that I was totally thinking of Kung-Fu.

>> Even if you can’t speak one word of English - you don’t run away when a cop is talking to you and you don’t fight a cop.

Naturally, you wrote that in English.

Even if you can’t speak one word of English - you don’t run away when a cop is talking to you and you don’t fight a cop.

When you reach the age of 84, you tend to get tired of rules and thugs who want you to do what they want.

[The officer] stood him up against the wall and was trying to write him a ticket. The man didn’t seem to understand, and he started walking away.

Perhaps being 84 years old and having lived through a little conflict called WWII, he remembered a time in China and elsewhere (that still continues in many places) when being singled out amongst a group of other people and stood up against a wall meant something a lot worse than getting a jaywalking ticket was about to happen. Just saying.

“The cop tried to pull him back, and that’s when he began to struggle with the cop,” said King, 24. “As soon as he pushed the cop, it was like cops started running in from everywhere.”

Because it takes a whole squad of cops to subdue an 84 year old man.

Oh and: “He was just walking across the street with other people, and they picked him out. How could they do that to an 84-year-old man.’’

So among a group of other people who were also jaywalking at the same time, the cops, like a pack of jackals single out the weakest of the group.

Yeah. I am not happy. No place for racism on this site. The Law and Order conservative seems Often to be thinly veiled racism. i don’t get it.

How about compassion for the elderly becoming an institutional value.

Bottom line:

The elderly man, regardless of confusion or ill intent, gave those cops the excuse they were hungering for to beat the tar out of him. For his own safety, I hope his family can get across to him just how “trigger-happy” NYC cops are so he doesn’t make the same mistake again.

As for those cops, if you can’t safely, physically control an 84 year old without beating them bloody, you have no business pinning on a badge and strapping on a gun. You are an embarrassing, pathetic excuse for a human being, much less a cop.

Why anyone would want to voluntarily patronize NYC in any way, shape or form is beyond me.

I would be very interested in the brain mechanism that tells us when to believe a MSM account of a situation without question, and when not to.

Nope, your comment was only mildly inappropriate, thematically connected to other mildly inappropriate humor, and not directed at the man.

IOW, you have work to do.

"...you don’t run away when a cop is talking to you and you don’t fight a cop. Even a mute and deaf chinaman knows this."

Didn't look like much of a “fight” to me. Is this the America you want to live in?

dmz muses: I would be very interested in the brain mechanism that tells us when to believe a MSM account of a situation without question, and when not to.

Good point, dmz! Take a look at the photo in FBD's post #57 above and offer a theory or two as to how our lyin' eyes are "the brain mechanism that tells us" to believe this MSM story, that the cops' technique was good and right but the MSM is just twisting it to make it look bad. Please offer a theory as to what really happened between the cops and this old guy, that would account for the blood on his face. PLEASE.

As greysard said in post #14: It takes a very special kind of person to strike an old man.
