The first lady was expected to announce Thursday that the Subway sandwich chain will spend $41 million over three years to encourage finicky young eaters to eat more food that comes out of the ground or grows on trees. The announcement was being made at a Subway shop near the White House.
Subway will only offer a kids’ menu that mirrors federal standards for school lunches. That includes offering apples on the side and low-fat or nonfat plain milk or water as a default beverage.

That’s one way to make people stop eating. The smell of puke will compound the effect.
The Subway I go to here already offers small bags of apples for sale. Haven’t checked on the nonfat milk, but I’m sure that’s already in their cooler too. I usually get a double-meat, double-cheese BMT salad, or their tuna fish sandwich. I can get two meals out of a foot long. I tried their Hot Pastrami, and thought it was very good.
Do you REALLY want to lose half your customers?
Yet another reason not to go to Subway.

I prefer a locally owned deli for my sandwiches but I don’t mind a Subway sandwich when I’m traveling. But if I walk in and see Michelle glaring at me from a poster on the wall...I’m outa there...probably forever.
The libs can have Subway. I prefer Potbellies, Jimmy Johns, and Tubby’s anyway. But nothing beats a grinder or sub from an independent sub shop or pizzeria. Don’t need Subway shoving Big Mother and her gestapo tactics down our throats.
And watch Subway’s business plummet!
I wish I was a regular Subway patron so I could boycott them.
I can’t imagine how Michelle’s picture will do much to stimulate anybody’s appetite.
Subway is one of 5 sandwich shops close to my home and office. If I want a sandwich, I go to one of the other ones.
I’ll take the Moochelle Obama footlong, please.
That’s dark-meat buffalo rump, topped with arugula, peas, and gubbermint cheese.
Why would I feed my kids low- or fat-free milk and lunch meat made from lips and a$$holes? Subway serves food just as processed as McDonalds. No thanks Mooch, I’ll continue to cook and bake real food for my kids. Back off.

Hmmmm, I think that this will be fun. I’m looking forward to the next time I go to my local Subway and if I see her picture on the wall. I’m just going to say in a fairly loud voice:
“I was in the mood for a Sub Sandwich. But seeing ‘Her’ on the wall has just convinced me to go to the ‘Hong Kong Buffet’ next door.”
YUP....look for Subway to file for bankruptcy soon...
