In my opinion Defiance is the perfect show for conservative/libertarians.
Wide ranging freedoms, minimal laws, minimal governance, free trade portrayed favorably, and resistance to the earth republic.

I think that the Gov. is most likely dead-dead, because Lilly seemed pretty determined to shoot him after what happened to her daughter, Meghan. We didn’t see him get shot, but IMO Lilly shot him in the head just as he had treated Meghan after Meghan had been bitten.
