Dems push to ban e-cigs on Capitol grounds
The Hill ^ | February 5, 2014 | Elise Viebeck

Seven Democratic lawmakers are pushing to ban the use of electronic cigarettes on the grounds of the Capitol complex as part of a wider campaign against them.

Led by the Senate's second-ranking Democrat, Dick Durbin (Ill.), the group called on rulemaking committees in both chambers to include e-cigarettes in the Capitol's existing ban on smoking in public places and near building entrances.

"Given preliminary [federal] research finding harmful chemicals present in e-cigarettes, measures should be taken to ensure that the public is equally protected from the potential dangers posed by e-cigarettes and their vapor," the lawmakers wrote Tuesday.

Via a spokesman, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told The Hill on Wednesday that he would pursue the rules change.

The letter marks the latest in a series of actions by congressional Democrats to curb e-cigarettes.

Four of the seven senators included in Tuesday's letter accused the Golden Globe awards last month of "glamorizing" e-cigarettes after the show featured two celebrities smoking them, including "Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The same group has also urged the Obama administration to speed up its efforts to crack down on the devices.

Mostly unregulated at the federal level, the e-cigarettes vaporize a nicotine solution in order to simulate regular smoking.

Supporters say that "vaping" is a healthier alternative to smoking because it leaves out the noxious chemicals found in many conventional cigarettes. Some also say e-cigarettes have helped them quit regular smoking.

But critics argue that the battery-powered devices deliver a more powerful dose of nicotine per puff, posing a serious health risk.

Tuesday's letter was signed by Sens. Durbin, Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Edward Markey (D-Mass.), Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.).

Further demonstrates that the demonic party is all about control ... they want you to OBEY ... they want you to surrender your will to them in all things great and small.

They think they’re god ...

They should just go for the end-game.

You may not enter a 5-mile radius of the capital unless you have been frisked, pockets emptied, body-scanned, DNA-sampled, and pose no real threat to your betters.

There’s only one way this gets fixed folks. If you haven’t settled in on that reality it’s time to get in the game.

“Did these people site any studies that prove that the vapor coming from e-cigs are harmful?”

No. They just can’t stand the fact that technology has circumvented their fascism.

From NewSun.com article from the German Cancer research Center.

The study goes on to say that the findings revealed the following about the emissions of e-cigarette: a) besides glycol (the main ingredient), nicotine, flavors, tobacco-specific nitrosamines, volatile organic compounds, acetone, formaldehyde. acetaldehyde, benzo(a)pyrene as well as silicate and various metal particles are present, and b) the particle size is between I00 and 600 nanometers, which is comparable to the particle size found in tobacco smoke of conventional cigarettes. The levels of most harmful substances are lower in thee-cigarettes than in conventional cigarette smoke, but they do accumulate in indoor air.

They are lying. When you buy the cartridges, you choose low nicotine, medium, or high. I get the low and I would bet most people don’t go above medium because people get them to drop down on use of nicotine. High nicotine users are likely still smoking real cigarettes.

I vote to put all those Democrats wanting to do this, in prison where they will have nothing disturbing them.

I’m fine with that, so long as those looking at that “end game” are also not allowed to leave. We can just tell them their “laws” are being followed and let them live out their days in la-la land.

I haven’t tried e-cig’s. I am battling now to stay way from the “hand to mouth” part of the habit. BUT, those I know that use them I truly find no issue with when I am around them, none. This is just more politicians pissed at freedom. For me now, I am nicorette (six weeks tobacco free). I’m going to give it a few more weeks and start the process of ditching the gum and finally getting free of this wretched chemical.

All companies that make the nicotine combination have their own way of doing it, so the cartridges are not all alike. The one I get makes the nicotine liquid in America.

One would have to know exactly which combination the German group studied. If they didn’t study those made in America, then the study is faulty.

Let’s ban lying around the Capitol grounds. Unhealthier than e-cigs.

Strap every congresscritter to a lie detector and let constituents question them. If they have nothing to hide, they have nothing to fear.

Maybe extend this to bureaucrats also. No need for all these investigations and so forth. No coverups or anything. Then we can control them.

I just switched last week to an e-cig after 35 years of smoking two packs a day and it couldn’t have been easier. I haven’t even remotely considered trying a real cig since. I’m loving already feeling so much better. Lungs already feel 200% better as well.

I’m convinced counter to what they preach that the pols want you to keep contributing from each pack.
