FULL TITLE: ‘Ridiculous’: How a Firefighter Ended Up in Handcuffs While Helping Victims at Scene of Serious Car Accident

While responding to a Tuesday night rollover accident in Chula Vista, Calif., a police officer and firefighter got into a dispute over where the fire engine should park. The verbal altercation ended with the uniformed firefighter in handcuffs.

The California Highway Patrol officer reportedly demanded the firefighter move the fire engine off the center divide. He refused and continued to treat the crash victims at the scene.

KFMB-TV captured the argument and ensuing arrest on video:

They must no longer require a psych exam for cops.

That CHP officer is emblematic fo the mental state of LEO’s today.

Instant, unconditional, compliance.

I will never, willingly, have anything to do with them.

Do you know what all cops and firefighters have in common? They both took the firefighter exam!

Sounds like somebody has some issues!

Having sat through California freeway jams that didn’t even involve an accident, I’m kinds sympathetic with the officer who wanted the guy to move the darn truck.

His lawyer (The Fireman’s) is going to be a rich man, and the community that hired and trained the patrolman a lot poorer.

That would be the State of California as he is a California Highway Patrolman. It’s okay, though. The state has tons of money to throw around.

i wish government would feel how cops treat regular people more often.

don’t let cop idiocy just be limited to us non-officer, civillian serfs.

it’s the only way we can get real change.

You're either SWAT or you're not.

Yeah, unless it emerges that the firefighter took a swing at the cop, I Think the firefighter may soon have some extra money.

I was thinking along those same lines.. but
Seriously.. Can his ego have been more bloated? Sickening new crop of cops out there.. Nothing like it used to be.

In my view a swing would have been appropriate if the cop was interfering with treatment of an injured citizen, as opposed to the proper parking of the engine. An old fashioned ass kicking would be called for.

Not surprised that the firefighter was set free.Probably upon orders from a superior of the hotshot CHP officer.

I would imagine the truck was parked behind the accident scene to prevent a driver from hitting the emergency responders, hence the refusal to move it. Damaged fire truck better than a dead fire fighter.

Personally, I would have grabbed the jaws and removed him from the cruiser. Let the cop explanation what his car is now scrap.

That would be the state of California. Can it get any poorer?

What are we doing here when we could be adoring Bill O’Reilly for the fourth day in a row. It is much more exciting to anticipate when his back patting will result in a broken arm.
