Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Ethan Hawke, Brian Dennehey, Amy Adams and Ellen Burstyn were among the stars who paid their respects Friday at a private funeral for Philip Seymour Hoffman that combined sadness and humor to honor an actor widely considered among the best of his generation.

Are supposed to celebrate a dead drug addict as if he were an upstanding moral example of American exceptionalism?
I am sure that if I looked, it would not be too difficult to find a funeral that was held on Friday for a Godly individual who lived a life that was truly worthy of celebrating as we mourn their passing.
So why do we continue to celebrate the worst of our society instead of the best?
I guess no one cars if John Joe Christian died of natural causes after contributing his life to Christ, family and country because he did so in the obscurity of his little circle of friends and family.
And the spiral down into the depths of depravity continue for this once great country God had shed His grace upon.
These Junkies should be required by state law to have a permit to possess a syring.Oh I forgot they are a prescription item anyway.
Whoever made that list left off Boogie Nights.
I didn’t know him until I remembered seeing him as Truman Capote. And I don’t see many new movies. Too many good old ones.
None better than Hoffman as Ratso in Midnight Cowboy.
Needles are free for junkies. It’s the diabetics who have to buy them and have a prescription.
Many would have been better then a junkie.
you forgot Boogie Nights. One of his best roles as Scotty J.
Anyone who was the best at what they did among their generation would garner equal attention.
Such lows that we've sunk to to honor druggies. I had to do a search to figure out who he was. He was creepy, very creepy, imo.
Ah, he leaned that way, huh. No wonder he gave off sick vibes.
We celebrate an actor, a person who reads texts others wrote and pretends to be others, a junkie who once played a famous fag! I get it now!
Uh, isn’t/wasn’t he a little “light” to play the “lyin’ king”?
The pics of the actors that showed up, what a scruffy looking bunch they were.
“Well Baraq and Moosechelle werent at Sochi, so why didnt they attend?” Barag was too stoned to attend!!
Barag=Baraq
He never bothered to marry the mother of his children. I hope, at least, he left enough money in a will for her to raise them!
