The Transport Security Administration has been criticized for humiliating a cancer survivor at a security checkpoint for wearing an incontinence pad. The man's wife has told that he suffers from OAB (overactive bladder) after a battle with prostate cancer and wears adult diapers for his condition. At an airport security checkpoint recently, he was forced to explain his situation multiple times to TSA officers, one of whom announced that he was wearing a diaper for the whole security line to hear, and then underwent an embarrassing back-room search.
The man's wife, writing anonymously, described her husband's ordeal on the forum CafeMom. She writes that her husband, after waiting for a lengthy time in the security line at an unnamed airport, had had a 'bladder spasm' and had wet the incontinence pad.
When he went through security, he was asked if he was carrying any liquids in his clothing. He explained his condition to the female TSA officer, who called over her male boss and tried to explain the situation to him. 'The problem was he did not understand what an "incontinence product" was when she told him,' writes the man's wife.
'Myself, [my husband], and the female TSA employee tried explaining a few times before the woman finally just shouted "HE IS WEARING A DIAPER" which caused pretty much everyone to turn and stare at us.'
Then, she adds, the TSA officer 'snickered.'
To add to the couple's humiliation, the TSA agents told them their scanner was unable to detect what was beneath the man's clothing and forced him to take off the diaper so that they could inspect the 'suspicious padding,' writes the man's wife.

This confuses me a bit.
I am not a TSA fan by any means, but it is more like they are bored DMV employees than the malignant evil portrayed so often in the headlines.
I fly 2500 miles a week, over 100,000 each year since 9/11 and have 3 million lifetime miles.
I have encountered only courtesy and professionalism from the few times I have had to interact with them. Mostly it is their inability to understand things like wires in my bag and the decision to check all 27 pockets in my travel vest (only happened twice) that indicate dimness, not meanness.
This is in 10 airports across the country.
Yes they can be stupid and uninformed and inconsistent. But their conduct is rarely problematic...
Malls are finished too. Homeland doesn't care about radical muslims ...only about conservatives. Many of us didn't go into one mall this Christmas. We bought on-line...
Health Insurance is on the ropes... or will be soon after the colossal failure of Obamacare.
Every other government organization wants their own swat teams and enough bullets to kill hundreds of thousands of... wait for it ... conservative Americans.
Now they're killing the travel business... one humiliated, bullied citizen at a time....

The good news is the Death Panels have ruled out PSA screenings so we don’t have to worry about the aftermath of those cancer surgeries anymore.

Anybody who willingly subjects themselves to Constitution-free zones deserves whatever the jackboots dish out.
If all Americans completely boycotted US airports, this nonsense would stop inside a week.
I’ve generally found that if you don’t cop an attitude with them, they range from friendly to businesslike. A couple of times, I’ve gotten more than a standard zapping, but even the extra attention just takes about 30 seconds.

I hate to sound like a broken record (or a CD for you kiddies who don’t remember them – or the God-given freedoms all those folks died to try to preserve for you) but here I go again!
The TSA began hijacking our freedoms the day they started the “security” crap at the airports many years ago. Some of us bi**hed about it then but didn’t get much response. Fedzilla was conditioning us to accept more and more restrictions on our freedoms from day one.
But, of course, say you, didn’t their system of NOT PROFILING do a splendid job by keeping those 19 muzzies off planes on 9-11? Goodness, if they hadn’t been stopped, they might have killed over 3,000 people, knocked down buildings and...
Oh, never mind.
(In the post 9-11 world, anyone stupid enough to try to take over a commercial flight would be beaten to death by the passengers who realize that’s to be preferred to hitting the Capitol at 600 MPH.)
It begs a question of anyone who has a real-world grip on how governments — ALL governments — operate:
“Did anyone really think the situation would get better for the traveling public?”
Having said that, this airport “training” of the public is essential to the success of Obozo’s planned National Defense Corps (or is that “corpse?”) street patrols. Can you say “You VILL show me your papers” in ebonics?

FOLLOW UP POST: TRIP TO NEW ENGLAND
In mid-2002, my wife and I flew to a family wedding in New England and changed planes in Philly.
With a 1 hour layover, we went to get a bite to eat at a joint in the then "sterile concourse." Our departing flight was in the same concourse.
Imagine my surprise when the meal came with one of those sturdy, white plastic knives with a serrated edge I pocketed and took on the departing flight. I later literally butchered a salami to prove that the knife was, in fact, a potentially lethal weapon.
Cutting (pun intended) to the chase, after 9-11, the next gang of morons who attempt to charge the flight deck of a commercial aircraft would be beaten to death by passengers who understand that if the flight was taken over, they would be dead anyway. They'd have nothing to lose.
If the TSA wants to keep planes from coming down, they should devote their efforts to PROFILING (just as the Israelis do) and inspecting the AIR CARGO in the belly of the plane, only 5% or so is inspected now. That's probably how it'll happen next time.

Just we observe your easy submission to “Traffic Law Police State 2014,” assuming you use your car to get to work as I use a plane to get to work.
If TSA was a problem for me I would fight them using every means at my disposal. They aren’t and I don’t.
I have Pre Check which means I don’t take my shoes off nor take my computers out of my bags. I pop through in about 15 seconds.
The biggest problem is they are giving Pre Check, which I had to pay and qualify for, to random people who don’t understand it and slow up the lines terribly.
People like you I assume.

Good thing you don’t need to go much more than 200 miles away from home and don’t have to cross the Pacific or Atlantic oceans.

No more than people who willingly subject themselves to the Constitution-free Police Zones where there is a completely unconstitutional concept of an “infraction” (please show me in the USC where a criminal prosecution can be won by the State with only a preponderance of the evidence).
You drivers give up your Constitutional rights every day with limited to no redress.
With the TSA there is redress but most travelers don’t avail themselves of it.
As I said, I have encountered no misbehavior of TSA agents in my hundreds of thousands of miles.
But enjoy the little tiny world you have cocooned yourself into.

IOW, you have no response to my arguments.
Thanks for letting the government frighten you into your little hole of a world. It is people who walk up to the government and look it in the eye and fight when it is needed who make a difference.
