Expert: Iran ships a dry run for later nuclear/EMP attack; humiliate Obam
Washington Examiner ^ | 2/14/14 | PAUL BEDARD

Iran's surprising decision to move warships off the Atlantic coast poses a potential catastrophic threat to America from a nuclear or electromagnetic pulse attack, according to an expert who foresaw Iran's move.

Peter Pry, an expert on EMP attacks, said the ships are likely a dry run for a future attack, a maneuver meant to lull Washington into complacency while also embarrassing President Obama and his effort to convince Tehran to give up production of a nuclear bomb in return for a lifting of some economic sanctions.

“Yes, patrols by the Iranian Navy off our coasts could pose threat of a surprise EMP attack,” said Pry, who with others such as former CIA Director R. James Woolsey, has convinced several state legislatures to take moves to harden their electric and energy grids from EMP attack because Washington won't.

“Peter Pry, an expert on EMP attacks”

Excuse me, but how can anyone be an expert in EMP attacks when there haven’t been any yet???

But, such an attack will take place early in a GOP Administration, so we can play “connect the dots” again.

Make sure they are shadowed by some Aegis cruisers who could handle any unforeseen issues. Give them the ROE to respond appropriately. It will not happen, we are so screwed.

I hope to hell someone has extensively been studying these things or otherwise we get to learn about them after the fact.

Meanwhile on a US naval vessel, “do we have a solution yet sonar?” “We had one when they left port sir.”

The Boston terrorists were brought in against
Russian warnings and WITHOUT PASSPORTS.
Will the Iranians be given detailed maps,
or just more weapons like al Qaeda by the US State Dept?

Perhaps it will be late in an Obama administration to give him a chance to suspend the election, constitution and whatever he needs to solidity his dictatorship. There's no telling what kind of deal he's made with them.

Oh please.

A dry run for something that would instantly be tracked back to the source and would create the perfect reason to annihilate the Persian nuisance?

Expert my eye.

Too many chicken little’s running around these days.

The response from Party Secretary to such an attack would be a strongly worded letter, with a finger wag. More likely, a call for the American people to do some introspective navel gazing to consider how this was all America’s fault. FUBO!

Back during another era, such a ship in international waters but close enough would be shadowed by a US Navy destroyer, occasionally painting the target. Not to the point like the Soviet Navy would do the “bump and grind” in the Mediterranean, but close enough. Add the hourly buzzing by patrol aircraft. But this is a new era.

Do you think they really care if they die?

That’s a great American perspective, but I would think that the enemy - if they have militaristic strategic goals (rather than geopolitical) - would be utter FOOLS not to take advantage of this utterly incompetent administration. They have a two to three year window to attack us. B-HO gets his constitutionally nebulous martial law. What are your thoughts? Best, Bill

Such a response would simply necessitate the immediate removal of all cowards from the government, so I give that theory little credence, and I factor in the historical records of lefties who love to wage war. Iran would be doomed, and it knows it.

In any case, that joke of a “fleet” will be lucky to survive the elements if it attempts to cross the Atlantic and back. The whole pony show is for internal consumption in Iran and that should be blatantly obvious.

Do you really think they're eager enough to risk the perpetuation of their genes? As in the whole country of Iran would more or less likely cease to exist if not a good chunk of the world's population if such a can of worms were suddenly opened?

They may be ready to meet Allah on a small scale, but everyone wants to see their genes continue one way or another, and as crazy and maniacal as they are, even those looney toons aren't that stupid.

“I hope to hell someone has extensively been studying these things or otherwise we get to learn about them after the fact.”

People study all kinds of things... Look at what we’ve spent on studying global warming. Trillions of dollars worldwide... And it was all BS. So is this. Just another way to get money by the supposed “experts”.

I am not an expert by any means, but I have been involved in electromagnet technology since my years in the Navy in the early sixties and a double E.

It’s not going to happen... There’s just not enough energy in an atomic blast, even if could all be converted to elector magnetic waves to do serious damage.

There is more energy, by several orders of magnitude, from the tens of thousands of lighting strikes that happen yearly in the U.S. every year. Yes they can cause damage and often do. Sometimes the lights go out for a while. Sometimes your computer gets fried...

And BTW, although it’s referred to as EMP, it’s really a magnet pulse... it’s really a magnetic pulse. The magnet pulse creates an e field in a conductor.

Burbs of Ft. Lauderdale here.

Few months ago, lightning hit the house.
It took out two cable boxes (1 was a dvr with all kinds of recordings on it). And it fried the sound in my computer because the ac power for the speakers was not plugged in the surge protector.

So the lightning traveled along the uverse wires AND the powerlines. Was it LOUD

Yes... we’ve all lost things due to Lightning. But you said it hit your house... I’d ask you... How many times has that happened. Did your phones go out? They use a simple transorb to protect them.

Like I said. not a problem...

I like reading that. Thanks for posting. Now I kinda want them to try something so we can respond with something massive enough that Tehran will only be spoken of in the past tense.

Sounds like the plot of “One Second After”, except that attack originated from a freighter in the Gulf of Mexico, so as to allow the missle to reach the center of the country more easily, before exploding. This makes the ‘reach’ of the EMP attack cover the entire continental US.
