Forgive an old man for wanting to show off my granddaughter. My daughter sent me a link to a video she took of Grace auditioning. She is 11, and she is auditioning for the Summer Intensive 2014. She also keeps the eye captivated on her face... so many dancers get caught up in form they forget the audience yearns to see the emotions in their faces as they dance the story.
I for one would not sign up for Google+ spynet which is required to comment. Perhaps that is why few will comment on YouTube.
Do you have a local ballet company? My son took classes at the Louisville Ballet and did many ballets there as a child. My daughter went to the Youth Performing Arts school here, and was able to get a scholarship for college. Good luck to your granddaughter.
Oh, I really appreciated that! Splendid, beautiful, “grace-ful.” And so much discipline. My high school friend, now 64, succeeded in dance and still *today* dances, and it shows. :) Keep up the great work, Grace!
Yes, exactly right. She also has very graceful hand and arm movements. That is instinctive, I believe. I see great potential here.
They live in Austin TX, I live in Chico Ca, but the audition was to be accepted by the Dancer at Rise Dance Company, in Round Rock, Texas and she was accepted.

I am so proud of her. I can tell you she does not get those moves from my side of the family. I come from a family of tin men, and the older I get the more oil I need to keep from stiffening up completely...LOL

Thanks Dean. She has a younger sister that also dances. Though right now she doesn’t seem to have the same knack, but I am only going of videos I get to see. They are in TX, and me being in N ca, makes it difficult to see them.

Can’t wait to see her en pointe work. But you have to go slow with that at her age. Lots of muscle work before toe work.
Lotta folks say a dancer won’t be exceptional unless she’s dancing by two years old, but I don’t believe that. Here is a young lady who is enjoying what she’s doing, you can tell it has never been forced drudgery for her, it in fact animates her.
