Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts....Cat Stevens???
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ^ | 2/19/14 | Rock & Roll HOF

Posted on 02/19/2014 2:47:38 PM PST by hoagy62

Today, the 2014 inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced. Among those being inducted were KISS, Hall & Oates, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, and Linda Ronstadt.

However, one inductee just ruined the whole thing for me: Cat Stevens, or...as he prefers to be known now...Yusef Islam.

How could the RRHOF make such a grievous error? Do they not know that the evil cult that he supports who have them all executed for the very thing that they personify?

Oh, boy...the coffee must've worn off.

It's Taqiyya, not "shaqiyya"

Must've been thinkin' Shaquille O'Neal. My bad.

And still no Doobie Brothers.

Pathetic.

That’s one more than I can name.

As far as I’m concerned they need to stop inducting anyone. Rock and Roll ceased to exist years ago.

Being a Muslim is no reason to deny him. However the fact that he was never a rocker is. As for Nuge, he never gets any respect. I was looking at a Rolling Stone top 100 guitar players and they have everyone who ever did session work on some obscure blues record in the 30s but no Motor City Madman. Not even an honorable mention. No John Fogerty either for that matter.

Actually, Linda Ronstadt is head & shoulders above everyone else on that list.

I'm holding out for my favorite Scandanavian band from the 70's.

I don't know why no one ever seemed to take them seriously.

I trusted him on February 21, 1989, we he was asked about the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie's death, and Yusef Islam replied:

He must be killed. The Qur'an makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die.

Johnny Rivers. He’s sang and performed more hits than many that are in the RRHOF plus he produced and helped many that are already in the HOF. Rivers was responsible for the Fifth Dimensions success and the awareness of Jimmy Webb songs.

The hall is no different than the Grammys or Oscars. Just a venue to push PC. Nothing legit about it.

They all are just glorified circle jerks. Not to be to subtle about it.

Rock and Roll ceased to exist years ago.<

Agreed. It died sometime in the early 1970s.

I think it’s funny that anyone takes it seriously. I mean all one has to do is read their inductee list that includes rappers to see that it ain’t about music.

One of us could start our own hall and it would have as much legitimacy. If not more.

Took them 3 decades to notice RUSH.

The best band of all times - RUSH.

I know. Which is proof positive they are a glee club outfit patting their own backs.

The Beastie boys and RUN DMC beat rush to the hall. That tells me all I need to know.

No and neither was Kobain. But they died young and were iconified.

James Dean was murdered?

The CIA remotely controlled the ECU which operated the antilock brakes and stability control (on his 1955 Porsche).

;-)

KISS might not be musically noteworthy but they really changed the game in terms of the spectacle of the rock concert. I think last year’s crop was better. Heart is legitimate and Rush was long overdue (yes, I think they’re the greatest band ever) but they also inducted Public Enemy. That certainly isn’t rock.

In any event I think KISS belongs even if only in the sense of innovation or entrepreneurship. Gene Simmons is a marketing genius even if he really isn’t qualified as a bass player or vocalist.
