Small Number Of Children In California Get Strange, New Polio-Like Illness

Dr. Keith Van Haren, a pediatric neurologist at Stanford University’s Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital who has worked with Glaser’s team, will present the cases of five of the children at the American Academy of Neurology’s upcoming annual meeting.

He said all five patients had paralysis in one or more arms or legs that reached its full severity within two days. None had recovered limb function after six months.

“We know definitively that it isn’t polio,” Van Haren added, noting that all had been vaccinated against that disease.

Glaser wouldn’t provide the number of illnesses. Van Haren said he was aware of around 20.

And we know that those who are immunized NEVER contract the diseases they’ve been vaccinated against, don’t we?

Ya. Sorry to hear it.

Scary from the other side too. There are some really nasty diseases like Polio that are just waiting to come back if we stop immunizing people.

Just travel to India some time. I got so many booster shots that BOTH of my arms hurt for a week.

True, most of the time the symptoms are lessened.

Maybe getting mildly sick versus maybe dying.

Case in point: People have stopped immunizing for pertussis in my area. The incidences have increased dramatically over the past year. I wouldn’t want not have been immunized. Whooping Cough was a pretty nasty disease back in the day.

“Prevention by vaccination is of primary importance given the seriousness of the disease in children.”

I question the intelligence of a mother that schedules 7 shots in one day.

She didn't "schedule" them you jerk. She trusted the doctor to know what he was doing.

The decline of most diseases has been ongoing for a little more than 100 years. With increased access to proper diet, clean water and improved sanitation methods, many diseases were already on the decline when mass vaccination was instituted in the 1950s. If you eat properly, have access to clean water and sanitation and have a healthy immune system, most diseases are easily treatable and survivable in today’s world.

And that’s my point. It’s not the doctor’s baby. It’s hers. She is in complete control of the choices she makes.

The baby is completely reliant on mommy to make good choices and to listen to her mommy instinct and ignore the “experts” who think seven shots is okay.

The shot schedule is not based 100% on the child’s best interest, but on a whole host of factors, one of which is the lowest common denominator of low IQ, drug addicted ghetto mothers which instructs that the best way to protect the herd is to do all the shots possible whenever a child is presented, because the parents may fail to follow up. The occasional and rare individual adverse reaction is considered an acceptable collateral damage in the cost-benefit equation.

If you are not a member of that demographic, there is no actual reason to follow the schedule designed for it. Smart mothers can do it differently to suit their child’s actual needs and risks as an individual rather than as a herd member.

Ya. But it has increased dramatically in my area. There were 15 cases recently. I'd have to find the source. My wife has been reading up on it.

The reason my wife and I have become “experts” is because our doctor thinks that my son might have caught whooping cough. Although we are becoming more skeptical. BTW, my son was immunized which is why we are now becoming skeptical. However, as mentioned before, immunization is not foolproof.

Here is my point: if my son did catch it, then he caught it from another kid whose parents opted out of the immunization requirements. My son hasn't been terribly sick but he does have asthma which complicates things.

Important: So those parents risked MY SON'S health and well being.

How about this: if parents do opt out, then how about letting the other parents and school officials know. That way, we can be “careful” around their kids.

Hey, I am all for Libertarianism and free choice.... “as long as what you do doesn't affect me.”

It’s strange the story provides so little information, nothing about the age of the children or their home towns. If this should involve illegal aliens, that fact will receive more confidential treatment than our most highly classified military secrets.

Did you know that research shows that asthma is a possible side effect of the adjutants in vaccinations? People like to throw out the argument that unvaccinated people are a danger to vaccinated people. A false argument. If vaccination is effective, then unvaccinated have no effect on the vaccinated. It’s possible that whoever exposed your son to Whooping Cough was also vaccinated against it as your son was. Most of the recent outbreak is in vaccinated people. It wasn’t necessarily an unvaxed person that “spread” it to your son.

The operative word there is “most”. But the ones that don’t fit in that “most” category need to be vaccinated against, measles and polio being the two biggies since they have can have crippling side effects even when survived.

Another consideration is treatment costs vs. immunization costs. Immunization is cheap insurance.

Bordetella pertussis Strains with Increased Toxin Production Associated with Pertussis Resurgence

“In the 1990s, a resurgence of pertussis was observed in a number of countries with highly vaccinated populations, and pertussis has become the most prevalent vaccine-preventable disease in industrialized countries. We present evidence that in the Netherlands the dramatic increase in pertussis is temporally associated with the emergence of Bordetella pertussis strains carrying a novel allele for the pertussis toxin promoter, which confers increased pertussis toxin (Ptx) production. Epidemiologic data suggest that these strains are more virulent in humans. We discuss changes in the ecology of B. pertussis that may have driven this adaptation. Our results underline the importance of Ptx in transmission, suggest that vaccination may select for increased virulence, and indicate ways to control pertussis more effectively.”

You haven’t taken your children to a military doctor, have you? They are militant about vaccines and about obeying their commands. Or so my daughter says. Our children’s physicians have all been reasonable and protective with waiting to give vaccines for a few months after each of our children were born.

Congratulations!

The Fukushima reference didn’t show for 17 posts!

There is hope for FR!

Interesting. I wonder if they have adapted the recipe to account for the changes? The underlying reason for vaccination is still valid.

Important point: it is probably not a coincidence that many people in my area are opting out of the vaccination. My son’s doctor has been tracking the incidences and the numbers of people not getting the vaccination. There are stats although specific information might not be available. Anyway, he seemed pretty convinced.

Also, I wonder if the incidences have increased elsewhere or just in my area. I got the impression that it was localized.

BTW, my doctor is from India. :)

Anyway, I’ll mention this reference to him. Thanks.

My daughter is military and the Naval Hospital Dr. told us she would refuse to treat my grandson again if my daughter did not adhere to the vaccine schedule. Upon further discussion, she then proceeded to tell us which immunizations SHE deemed “unnecessary”. lol Well Baby check-ups are simply scheduled opportunities for doctors to make sure parents are vaccinating. We take my grandson to the Dr only when he is seriously ill, which has has been never. He is healthy and thriving.

Failure to develop antibodies against a disease is found in other types of vaccinations. For example, I did not respond to the Hep B series. A son of a friend had measles even though he had been vaccinated.

Making other people sick and putting them at risk of fatal or crippling diseases is not a Libertarian value.
