You can just depressurize the aircraft if it at cruise altitude very easily. It was a redeye flight so most were asleep. If the pilots gradually depressurized those awake would have gone to sleep, too. Everyone would have died a peaceful death in their sleep.

Why there? Because it’s Muzzie? Do you know how crowded that place is?

It wouldn’t explain why the GSM cellphones and smartphones that passengers had on board were able to be dialed to by their relatives or were online up to three days after the aircraft supposedly crashed.

They're confused.

If those phones were really still online, they would have had to have been checking into cell towers, and finding them would have been a cinch. Just simple triangulation. No need to fly around and gaze at blue water.

Why steal a plane in the first place?

It makes a great ICBM, though no "B" (not Ballistic)...

A great nuclear bomb delivery vehicle.

From what I heard about the two Iranians “seeking asylum” they both entered Malaysia at the same time, February 28th, from Qatar using their legit Iranian passports..it was only on Flight 370 that for whatever reason they used the stolen passports..if they were seeking asylum, they had already used their legit passports once, why not just do it again, go to whatever country they want, and seek asylum

Red herring. There are no cell phone towers in the middle of the ocean.

And if there were, or if the plane was on land, within range of a cell tower, the cell carrier would know, within a fairly small area, where the phone was. Even when no call is being made, cell phones and cell towers communicate with each other and it is possible to determine which cell tower is nearest to any given cell phone.

Maybe Jonah’s whale popped up, ate them, and then spit them out on land near a cellphone tower?

If a working, powered, cell phone were near a tower, the cell phone company could determine exactly which tower it was nearest to, and deduce a very small area where the phone was.

No wreckage = top gun fliers. Was it the Iranians or the two pilots?

It would be interesting to know if the engine reporting system could be shut down by the flight crew. What if a hijacker just forgot about that system under the stress of the moment and did not recall it until a few hours later?

Be nice to know about the fuel load. They would be consuming more at lower altitudes but a 777 ER is rated at 7700 miles. Wouldn’t think they were fully fueled just to go to Beijing but this is the kind of info being kept from the public by all of the big players.

Your postulation about them maybe losing spatial awreness and flying into the sea seems very plausible. About three weeks after the Eastern Airlines Jumbo flew into the Everglades at night in 72 I talked to a guy who helped retrieve bodies when the crew lost track of their altitude.

If in the plane was in the middle of the ocean, the of course. But by the time the families realized something was amiss an started checking the phones it could have been over land according to the most recent speculation.

But then we would know where they were when their phones reconnected to the network. That would be a major clue in the story, eclipsing the recent satellite link news. But we don't know, and this little factoid simply isn't a fact.

Oh I know that too, but satellite have to be looking were you think something is or isn’t wink wink.

“...if they were seeking asylum, they had already used their legit passports once, why not just do it again, go to whatever country they want, and seek asylum”

Just a guess, but Iranian travelers might be denied entry without a valid visa, which might be hard to come by. With an EU passport, no such scrutiny, at least at first.

My two cents: The pilot and FO stole the plane. It was night so the passengers probably didn’t notice the change in direction. Probably had a couple of accomplices in the back just in case and after landing. The latest word is 4 to 5 hours of ACARS. If they climbed a little and pushed the power up, they could have made Iran. That is where I think the aircraft is. The passengers are now hostages. The aircraft will likely be refitted for a Chem/Bio attack or possibly worse.

I am skeptical that this aircraft could be landed on a flat area in the desert. Her empty weight is ~145 tonnes, or over ten tonnes per wheel.

I have thought for some time, that the co-pilot was behind this. Maybe planned a suicide, thinking it wouldn’t be detected and leaving insurance money to someone. He could have given the captain a cup of coffee laced with drugs to knock him out.

Laos or even Cambodia is a possible, but you would have to hack up allot of jungle to land a 777-200 ER.

What about the old airfields from the Vietnam war? How do the take off and landing requirements for a BUFF compare to the 777?

“they entered Malaysia on February 28th using their legit Iranian passports..they could have continued flying to their destinations using their legit passports,”

No, they couldn’t. People, especially Americans, are ignorant to the facts - since we are privileged to have U.S. passports and therefore readily accepted into most countries.
An Iranian with an Iranian passport, is very limited to where they can go. There’s a very small handful of countries that don’t require a visa or will grant one without much information ....Malaysia is one of them. Any EU country, has rigid requirements for all Iranians, especially if you don’t have much of a travel history. Even with that, it can take 3 to 6 months to find out if you get a visa.
Once in Malaysia, they needed passports that would allow them to enter an EU country without a visa.
