Bicyclists who float out of their bike lane.
03-13-2014 | Me

Sorry, have to vent as I cannot stand these moronic liberal bicyclists in their stupid monogram tights and stupid gay shoes who cannot stay within the lines of their bike lanes.

To the idiot tonight....keep drifting out of your bike lane and don't be surprised if one day you end up on the underside of my F350.

The stupidest people allowed on public roads.....

Bicyclists: yet another obnoxious breed of flaming narcissists our society is plagued with during our final descent into the abyss.

I am a cyclist and know many who are devout conservatives.

Coupla beers and I'm sayin,

"Do as you would a deer: Drive through it."

Why put others at risk?

Regardless, just remember the golden rule: After a vehicle-pedestrian/cyclist accident, clearly claim your adherence to the 5th Amendment Right to remain silent and then SHUT THE HELL UP and let an attorney speak for you.

Be careful because bicyclists do seem to get more leeway in terms of accidents. My mother was fully stopped at a crossway when a bicyclist ran right into the side of her car. Guess who won the insurance lawsuit? The guy on the bike of course.

But don’t lose sight on the plight of us other bicyclers, though. I once crossed a street that had a car waiting behind a stop sign for traffic to clear, and got T-boned, almost crushed beneath the wheels. I was wearing no peacock-colored tight spandex, by the way. Since I wasn’t injured and the bike seemed OK, I let it go.

It's probably due to the economy, but lately there have been many more bicyclists about, even with the lousy weather.

But these guys (and gals) are annoying in a slightly different way. No spandex, but they're riding towards oncoming traffic in the same lane (close to the curb), wearing street clothes that blend into the background.

Now, I try to watch out for bicyclists, even the annoying ones, but the average driver isn't expecting to have objects hurtling towards them in their own lane. Typically, you don't see the cyclist until they emerge from behind the car in front of you. If you're going 35 and they're going 10, you suddenly have an object hurtling towards you at 45mph in an unexpected place that you have to quickly identify and avoid (if you can). It's suicidal on their part. I almost wish these guys would wear day-glow spandex so they'd stand out a bit more.

BTW, I ride and abide by the laws of the road...and I carry when I ride.

So try to remedy that, blubber butt.;-)

Bike Ping

I've gotta say that "drifting" off the shoulder is often caused by debris on the edge of the road like broken glass and shrapnel left over from vehicle collisions.

For every stupid or inconsiderate bike rider (not cyclist) there are many more imbeciles who operate motor vehicles.

I like to clip bicyclists when they won’t stay in their shoulder lane and insist on causing wrecks on curvy, hilly roads that are meant for transport and not bike hobbyists.

They have convinced me they have a death threat not only for themselves, but everybody else on the road. Doesn’t bother them a bit if they cause a head-on with heavy vehicles.

Therefore, doesn’t bother me a bit when one of them bite the dust, or bumper.

As a life long runner, let me also condemn the idiot cyclists who use the sidewalks.

As I tell my friends and family, if I fail to come home after a run, that means I’ve been run down by a bicycle, or, knocked into oncoming traffic by a bicycle.

I have a term that I’ve been using for years: JIPU’s

It means jerks in pickups. The worst, most rudest drivers I encounter in CA drive pickup trucks. For some reason, their ride is part of their identity.

Anyway, I’m a constitution-loving cyclist who wears ‘cycling gear. Why do you assume that cyclists are liberals? Oh, you identify with your truck. I get it.

Cycling gear or for the sake of this debate, did you mean gay spandex with those fruitcake shoes?

I’m just askin.....

Carry on....

Can’t be said enough. FreeRepublic supposedly represents the conservative, intellectually honest, and thinking end of the spectrum. But I am amazed at the number of people here who lump everyone into small groups, or fly off the handle on one side of a story.

There are some people who tend to judge others in a hasty manner and assume superiority over them without justification. I used to think it was the mark of a liberal.

It’s sad to see a person who is inconvenienced for a few seconds becomes so affected by it that they decide to take their problems to the internet.

We may have other issues at work. It’s sad to see all this happen.

Up here in the wine country where the state has developed bike routes I love to drive one road where it is a 4 mile steep uphill and passing all those red faced flatlanders walking their bikes up the hill. Nature is not kind to dumbbells.

Inanimate objects cannot exhibit any degree of intellect, most bicyclists - yes. IF you ride smart, we will never meet.....

If I ride on the road, I look at every car that approaches me from the back side and make sure they are looking at me and I get over to the right.

I do not understand those that do not even look.

Pedestrians and joggers do the same thing, walking along with their ear buds in too.
