Bicyclists who float out of their bike lane.

Sorry, have to vent as I cannot stand these moronic liberal bicyclists in their stupid monogram tights and stupid gay shoes who cannot stay within the lines of their bike lanes.

To the idiot tonight....keep drifting out of your bike lane and don't be surprised if one day you end up on the underside of my F350.

The stupidest people allowed on public roads.....

99% of bicyclists give the 1% who don’t suck a bad name.

I was a pedestrian clipped and rolled between two trucks. I nearly ate the rear bumper. You both sound foolish.

Jealous of the freedom of riding a bike. Of being active and healthy. Of being different. Of being in shape.

Trust me, no one here is jealous of any of that. I have been on food and nutrition threads where I mentioned my plant based, whole food diet and preference for organics, and have received some really, really angry replies, none of which I interpreted as jealousy. Being active, healthy and in shape and not things that are valued here on FR, not even a little. LOL!

Riding a bike on the road is different, though. It inconveniences other people, usually with somewhere important to be. And even when you stay in your bike lane, drivers still veer slightly into the oncoming traffic lane as they pass you because you are so unpredictable. Biking on the road is, at it's core, a selfish act.

Bump! You nailed it.

Here in Richmond, VA, they are everywhere, cluttering up the roads which are, of course, meant for automobiles.

Accepting for a moment, the “share the road theory”, my wife’s reaction is restrict the bicyclists to the 25 MPH speed zones. Not a bad idea.

“It inconveniences other people, usually with somewhere important to be.”

Otherwise known as selfishness. Thanks for making my point.

Not all cyclists are liberals.

I’m a cyclist and I’m a conservative. So are the friends I ride with.

I ride for exercise. I obey traffic laws. So do the other cyclists I know. Yes there is the occasional bone head that doesn’t, but judging all cyclists by the actions of a few is ignorant (I’m sure you weren’t but people do). Besides ... how many behind the wheel of a car are obeying all of the traffic laws?

Once you physically get to the point where you can keep up and merge with traffic (street level, not the freeway) one can be less of a nuisance.

That's quite true. Such people do not pose a hindrance to traffic just like a motorcycle. It's really tough though to maintain even 25 mph speed, so it's rare to encounter such a cyclist.

I drive a six inch lifted 3/4 ton, just so when I run over a cyclist I don’t get the underside all covered lol.

All joking aside, I don’t find it’s the pickups, I find it’s the guys who were raised with no Christian values.

Not too many issues with cyclists up here, might see the odd one, but most can’t peddle fast enough to escape the cougars lol.

I didn’t read that the same way you did, I just read that if a biker keeps drifting out of his lane, one of these days he wouldn’t be able to jerk the steering wheel fast enough or something. I think people are reading too much into things.

This is probably the most intelligent response in this entire thread.

Yep - I always lower my speed and give way to cyclists - even those I deem to be unnecessarily impeding traffic. My convenience and saving a few seconds is not worth knocking someone off even if they “irritate” me. Part of the trick is to not be so thin-skinned as to be seriously incensed over the small crap that doesn’t mean anything in the big picture. Those who get outraged are immature and have no real concept of personal self control except in what they think others should exercise.

Hey pal, let me tell you about the closest I ever came to getting killed. I was riding 4 feet off the road on the shoulder. Some sanctimonious jerk in a F150 “floated” into my lane and missed me by about 3 inches.

We had a little conversation at the next red light. I think the dent came out of her hood. Do t try to tell me that truck drivers are pure as the wind driven snow.

Oh and bye the way. The clothes are for function, not looks.

About a week ago, I was making a left turn on to a busy road coming home from work. As I was making it into the proper lane turning left, a bicyclist was coming up directly in front of me, THE WRONG WAY, and I had to hit the brakes hard to keep from hitting him dead on. Luckily there was no one behind me to crash into my rear end, stopping in the middle of a turn.

The bicyclist was maybe in his mid to late thirties. When I was a kid, 1960’s early 70’s, we were ‘taught’ to always ride against the traffic, so that we could see what was coming and take evasive action as necessary. That is now illegal in most places I know of.

It is harder to ‘un-learn’ something than it is to learn it in the first place..........

Yes. I think so. I think it has gotten worse and so has my attitude about them as well. If riders are cool then I’m cool. If they are road hogs and it is between me and another car—well let’s just say—I pass in a manner that allows ME not to get hit by another driver. That law is insane.

Maybe ... but there are some other words thrown in that say otherwise. Words like moron, liberal, idiots, etc.

I’m an old guy my self but we have a guy here that is prob 60 or so and rides toward the traffic on a three wheel bicycle pulling a trailer. This is a 50mph zone with no bike lanes and just a shoulder that most times turns into a right turn lane. At that point in the road, bike or car has no place to go and traffic is snarled until someone backs up!
I have seen many cyclist here that ride against traffic. Crazy!
