What if Putin said he just wanted "this island" of Alaska's, or "that small region"?
He might say Peter the Great did not represent the will of the Russian people when he sold the land to William Seward on behalf of the United States....
What would the nation do? What would the regime do? What would you do?

When this all started I first thought of what if the Mexicans wanted Texas back. But then a more apt parallel would be Russia and Alaska - thanks for posting!
(And don’t remind anyone about Manhattan - they might start getting ideas.)
If Russia wants Alaska back we would cross that bridge when we get to it but its not a remotely realistic fantasy at this point. Sure there are people of Russian ancestry there but they are mostly their because they fled Russian oppression over many generations.
Meanwhile we have generations of illegals throughout the country, most of which we won’t be able to get rid of, demanding ever more special rights.
Apparently we’re so busy protecting the world from itself that we forget to protect ourselves from the world.
