Did a black cat cross your path? Well, you're in luck because your life is about to get awesome!
Our paw-some Black_Friday users are all about the preservation and celebration of the sadly misunderstood black cats and helping the world see how beautiful these sleek and chic felines truly are. We want to give a special thanks to them for helping us create this fun and informative list to share with all of you!
Their personalities often aren’t beautiful, around other cats, at least.
My Maggie did something like that when I saw her at the Everett Animal Shelter. She’s a b/w tuxedo. She’ll be 16 in June.
Malcolm is black for all intents a d purposes. When I lived in Seattle, he came in through the open second floor window, which I used as a cat door. They could climb and jump down the fire escape. I thought be was lost or homeless and kept him in. There was something wrong with his ear. I took him to a veterinarian, got earmite medicine and asked them to scan him for a microchip. They charged me a steeply discounted rate. So he had a chip and the owner lived 4 blocks away. I phoned him and he picked him up and told me his name was Malcolm. He said he’d just adopted him and he was not getting along too well with his other cat. I gave “Mr. B” the second dose of earmite medicine and he gave me some money. 6 days later I woke up to find Malcolm sleeping on the foot of my bed. I phoned Mr. B. and he said “I’m in Reno. But when I get home from Reno, I’ll come a d get him.” When he arrived, he said “I’m taking him back to the shelter because he’s being mean to my other cat.” I said “If you’re doing that, I’ll take him. “ He just happened to have the earmite medicine with him. I can’t say Malcolm is always a joy to live with, but I guess he loves me, and I love him.
As you know, since the demise of my Rocket, we have only three cats, all black.
Lucas Prince of Darkness cheats with a little white spot on his tummy and two white whiskers.
Miss Hissy Slashy is coal black all over, berry ebil looking, but really very sweet since we tamed her with kindness.
Shadow also cheats with very sparse, white ticking all over, not enough to say she isn’t black. She is silver blue in the sunshine.
They communicate very well with me, especially when they want pets and/or food. They are all good, all-indoor kitties.
Aw!
I used to have two black cats, a sister and brother pair named Kinky and Straight (for their tail shapes).
We had them for 18 years. After Straight passed, little Kinky lost her desire to live and followed him into the hereafter exactly a month later.
I’d be tempted to get another black kitty, except that I already have too many kitties. The little black ones sure are cute!
“Black cats are among the most beautiful of cats, but I have to admit Im a bit superstitious.”
Our black kitty found us. Someone threw him out; we think they threw him (probably siblings too)in the nearby dry streambed. We found him wandering in our backyard. He was only about 2 to 3 weeks old; so, that was a long trek for the extremely little guy. My daughter, then 9, begged for us to keep him. She fed him with an eyedropper for weeks.
Joey Kitty has turned out to be one of our best cats. He actually thinks he is a dog because he learned by following our Shipoo around.
Besides, my birthday is Halloween, I figure a black cat is good luck for me!
I have 2 torties and a tortie and white (some call those calicos). My beloved late Scooterpie was also a tortie. I’m quite partial to them for what my vet calls tortie attitude or “tortitude”. They certainly look at things a little differently.

Yep, black cats rock! I just rescued a black kitteh that was born outside last October. Finally caught her on March 15th. The first time I saw her, last November, she had already lost one eye and the other has a film on it. Surgery last week to “fix” the eye that was lost was successful, she gets her stitches out today. I also had her spayed, pills for ear mites, worms, and eye drops for her remaining eye (has a lesion on it). She’s adjusting being in the house (not going back outside!). Named her Pirate, LOL.
That they are.
You have a great pride. Rocket RIP.
G-d bless you for your kindness. May you and Pirate have many wonderful years together.
Interesting. I think my tortie might be part Siamese, which would also make my torbie part Siamese as well as she’s one of the tortie’s kittens.
It was really hard for us to get our tortoiseshell kitty (see post #51 for a picture). She observed us from our yard for two and a half years before she decided we would be suitable servants. :)
“Lucas Prince of Darkness”
With a name like that, might I infer that you (or your spouse) is a British car enthusiast?
Ah. Ok. Meow-ch!

Yep. they sure do. Every black cat I have known has been extremely sweet and affectionate. I read somewhere that those traits are common in black kittehs for whatever odd reason.
Indeed. Bryan is a proud former owner of a Sunbeam Alpine, an Indian motorcycle,
and (currently) a Dunstall Norton Commando, all victims at one time or another of...

...Lucas Electric.
He is also a former Subject of the Queen, now an American citizen in good standing.
Thank you, my friend.
Here’s hoping I make it to the Rainbow Bridge.
Two of mine are tuxedos. Close enough for horseshoes.
