New AMC show: Turn (about America's first spy ring in the Revolutionary War)

I thought this sounded good. It starts this Sunday on AMC. Has anyone heard anything about it yet?

It did look good from the previews I saw, but I’m always suspicious that this will turn out to be some Lefty propaganda vehicle.

The most likeable lead character will turn out to be gay, or perhaps they will “expose” George Washington as a fraud, or condemn the British for their handling of the environment in the Colonies; some such thing.

Saw a commercial for it. Set my PVR to record. Hope it’s at least historically accurate and not some revisionist history crap.

I am hoping that too. The advertisement for it said something about the turned on their family, they turned on their friends etc. etc. So I am going to watch and hope for the best.

If they get political with it, I probably won’t watch it.

Here’s what I’m afraid of: They’re going to twist it around to show how it’s actually a GOOD thing to turn your family and neighbors in if they go against the cause, or the government, as if to say “See, TEA partiers? The colonists did it! They did it for the new AMERICAN government! Granted, it would be a twist, but they would do it.

Evidently not based on Kilmeade’s book. This was based on a book by an author named Rose.

The book Washington's Spies on which this is based is largely about the spies who were hunted in British-occupied New York after the Battle of Monmouth Court House.

There would be no foothold in the book or in the history for Americans "turning in" Loyalists.

The only possible example would be the ring discovering that Benedict Arnold was secretly plotting with the British to hand over West Point.

You can spin that all you want, but it will be tough to make him a sympathetic figure.

Yep, they could do it that way too. I just don’t watch shows where they have propoganda. There’s too many other choices now. If a show gets too much liberal bs, I just don’t watch it any more.

The war turned toward the colonists’ favor after the British Regulars’ decisive defeats at Cowpens and King's Mountain South Carolina in 1781.

Cornwallis then suffered massive casualties in North Carolina. Consequently, he withdrew all his forces from the Southern colonies, and moved northward. A few short months later he surrendered.

Defeat of the vaunted ‘best in the world’ British soldiers by Southern militia turned the British public against war in the ‘colonies’. That was the source of the defeat.
