Saudis and Their Unhealthy Love of Rice
Saudi Gazette ^ | Thursday, April 03, 2014 | Talal Al-Qashqari

I don’t know of any other food that harms us more than rice, which despite its many benefits is unhealthy if consumed in large quantities. There are only a few countries in the world whose people eat rice in large quantities like Saudis, and they include people in countries in South Asia and in Japan and Indonesia. But these people eat rice in a healthy way - either boiled or steamed.

We, on the other hand, eat rice in an unhealthy way by preparing it in oil, butter or ghee and other unhealthy ingredients, all of which are high in fat. It is very difficult for our poor stomachs to digest such ingredients. The liver, which produces biochemicals that are necessary for digestion, also suffers. The glucose derived from rice remains in the liver without being converted into glycogen, and therefore starts a fight with the pancreas, which is the gland that produces enzymes to regulate blood sugar and fluids that help with digestion. Thus, not only is the stomach at risk but also the liver and kidneys and, ultimately, our bodies are the losers.

As far as the economic aspect is concerned, numerous reports have noted the enormous amount of food we waste, a deplorable practice that costs the national economy SR1.6 billion per year. This also shows our extravagance, for which we may have to suffer the consequences as Allah does not like extravagance. There are several places in various parts of the world that have been put to the test due to extravagance. The large amount of money lost on wasted food is sufficient to lift a large number of people out of poverty if we only tackled the issue in a proper manner.

Finally, I want to say that we must give only secondary importance to eating any dish made of rice like kabsa, mandi, bukhari and biryani. Our first priority should be to give importance to the health and economic aspects with regard to eating rice.

"Ghee is a class of clarified butter that originated in India and is commonly used in South Asian cuisine and ritual. The word ghee comes from Sanskrit: घृत and has several names around the world." Wikipedia.

“I guess too much rice makes 50 year old men want to marry 11 year old girls and watch dancing boys. Just say no to rice. :-)”

Uhhhh - - - those Muslims are not just watching those boys.
Buggering boys is more popular than sex with goats/sheep.

I suggest vegan diets all around for these people. The sooner they abandon traditional diets and concomitant beliefs the better. Their society will disintegrate soon; soon enough for our to still have some life left.

Oil & butter is necessary to counter-balance the overdose of low quality carbs in rice. Add to the list of rice eaters from SE Asia..south Indians. Common thread? All rice eaters are more intelligent compared to others. Must be some brain food in rice somewhere in there.

My mom in India heated home made butter to boiling point which separated the fat from non fat ingredients in butter.
The non-fat stuff rose to the top and was skimmed off. The remaining liquid is Ghee, which could last for weeks without refrigeration. (almost no one had no refrigerators in those days).

All the countries that eat a lot of rice have a big diabetes problem.

We, on the other hand, eat rice in an unhealthy way by preparing it in oil, butter or ghee and other unhealthy ingredients...

Which of those ingredients are the ones that make you strap bombs to your children, shoot and cut the heads off of unbelievers and Christians, take over democracies with shariah totalitarianism, or wrap women in bags and cut their genitals out?

Hint: food is not your problem.

Saudi Family Picnic

(1) Dad drives to market to pick out a young camel, goat, or sheep, etc.
(2) Place live animal in back of SUV, or pick-up truck.
(3) Select participants. Select wife or wives (aka "cousins"), offspring, guests, etc.
(4) Drive out into desert.
(5) Build large fire. Pitch tent, spread rugs.
(6) Slaughter animal from step (1). Machete, axe, pistol.
(7) Skin, dress, and cook animal and serve on platters of rice cooked in oil and fat as described, vegetables, fruit, etc. It's called Kapsa
(8) Sit around fire eat with the right hand only, exchange witticisms. Pray at appropriate times.
(9) Make coffee by lightly roasting green beans, coarsely grind, and boil in water.

The Saudis LOVE picnics. One can be in the remotest part of the country and be surrounded by 65 year-old motor oil cans, the remains of many campfires, the remains of the animals cooked, plastic, metal, cloth, paper including TP, tin cans, bottles, old tires, shattered crockery, junked and wrecked vehicles and parts, etc. Except that it is dry and sandy or rocky, one might as well be picnicking on an abandoned empty lot in Detroit. It takes forever for any trash to decompose in this climate.

I’ve had something very like that but with lamb instead of chicken. It was delicious. Arab cooking can be quite good.

” It takes forever for any trash to decompose in this climate.”

You have just explained how Islam has managed to survive as long as it has.

Something like that.

She still loves bananas. She’ll pick those over even granola bars or muffins.
