Bikini with your coffee? In Clovis, a move to get barista beauties to cover up (video)
The Fresno Bee ^ | April 4, 2014 | Marc Benjamin

"It isn't the coffee that's too hot, but the nearly bare baristas of Bottom's Up, a Clovis drive-through coffee shop that has trouble brewing with some neighbors who oppose the business."

Can’t see their bottom halves from outside the drive-in window. I would put in a taller window.

They have a walk up window. Maybe more can be learned from that location.

I lived in WA from 2005-2011 and the complaints about the bikini baristas seemed to be a constant part of the fabric of society around those parts. My county made one stand erect a wooden barrier between them and the highway so the kiddies in passing cars wouldn't catch a glimpse of one of the girls.

I thought it was all strange considering they're passing out condoms to kids in schools, promoting gay lifestyles, allow nude bike races in the city, etc.

Saves on the expense of work clothes. They should work naked, and save even more!

What is the problem? Why would someone take the time out of their personal life to oppose this? Are you that bored?

As I understand it, though people are complaining, the city officials don’t want to be bothered. They tell people not to patronize the business if they object. Based on the video, I think the same way. Take up some other cause.

I agree. I don’t have any offensive, immature things to add here. But I am a female and a Christian and I just don’t see the problem here. How many of these offended people either wear a bikini or let their daughters wear bikinis at the pool??
If I’m offended, I look the other way.

Now I’m in favor of modesty, but this is inside their business.

"They should work naked, and save even more!"

It would probably save on clothes. But I like my coffee black, with no pubic hairs. But that's just me. I'm not being judgmental.

Clovis, while in New Mexico, is more like a west Texas town in temperment. Think Lubbock or Amarillo and with the Texas bible belt type ranchers nearby.

However, you have the growing Cannon AFB just to the west a few miles and the military boys will go out of their way for a stop like this. So you end up with a culture clash not untypical around a miltary town.

That being said, it is a darn nice little town. The air base, however, is a constant dirt storm (dust storm doesn’t do it justice.) Cannon is a contractor nightmare because they threw ten years worth of expansion in over four and they didn’t build the infrastucture in advance. Good place to loose money trying to make some from what I saw on the base itself.

I think a lot of older, less-attractive women are the ones getting upset about this. Perhaps they see the young gals as some sort of threat to them.

“...They tell people not to patronize the business if they object....”

Bingo.

“...Take up some other cause....”

Not a cause. A comment. Relax.

Human nature. You’re probably right on the money.

I can see where it might be a public health issue if the barrista is straightening out her underwear and then handling the coffee —
