#8-16 The following are nine more statistics that come from a survey conducted by the Adelphi Center for Health Innovation. As you can see, a significant portion of the population is not even prepared for a basic emergency that would last for just a few days…

44 percent don’t have first-aid kits 48 percent lack emergency supplies 53 percent do not have a minimum three-day supply of nonperishable food and water at home 55 percent believe local authorities will come to their rescue if disaster strikes 52 percent have not designated a family meeting place if they are separated during an emergency 42 percent do not know the phone numbers of all of their immediate family members 21 percent don’t know if their workplace has an emergency preparedness plan 37 percent do not have a list of the drugs they are taking 52 percent do not have copies of health insurance documents

My family has owned/operated farms in this county since 1889. Before that in Coryell Co.

I hunted here as a kid. We have far more game today than any time in my life. Not many people. County is <6,000 people.

Now, there are a lot of outside hunters who come here from Dallas and other cities. Some from out of State.

Like most rural areas, “A country boy can survive” hee hee hee

Have friends from my youth that hunt. Some of the families here have been friends for 120+ years.

But life might be boring if it came to that.

Hence my stipulation that it be serious diabetes. The number of people on some type of “happy pill” alone is staggering. I imagine what will happen during a time of national crisis if the happy pills are not distributed.

Yes, you will survive. Have the real estate to raise animals is a key advantage, plus the ability to see intruders at a distance. My grandparents hit MN in 1878, and we still have the farm, albeit considerably downsized. We were raised there and like you lived through all sorts of life experiences. If we had to we’d head back there to make a go of it. :-)

That’s my point. When everybody is hunting to survive there will be very little game generally. The more rural you are the better.

I read somewhere that US bushmeat would last about two months.

>>Don’t think insurance plays a part in SHTF.<<

Most people think SHTF = “Mad Max.”

In fact, this list s for natural disasters. For example, I was in the SF Valley when the Northridge quake hit. None of the stores in the Valley were open.

But my friend in Hollywood had no such problems and brought me a few cases of beer (or course we drank most of them ourselves, but still...).

Many localized disasters (you can include riots like the L.A. Riots I also got to experience) still require things like cash, insurance documents, proof of ownership, etc.

You better have 2 weeks supplies, not just 3 days as the article says.

The AGW crowd are nothing but con-artists.

Please please please consider watching this lecture and/or reading this (or other books)by Dr. Robert Lustig with her:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM

“Fat Chance - Beating the Odds Against Sugar, Processed Food, Obesity, and Disease”

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=fat%20chance%20beating%20the%20odds%20against%20sugar%20processed%20food%20obesity%20and%20disease&sprefix=Fat+Chance%2Caps%2C607

He discusses in a powerful and easy to access way the workings of cellular metabolism and the history and the effects of the “American” and “Big Food” diet on those workings.

There’s one group that might have a chance if left alone by the human locusts.... The Amish. traditional farming methods with lots of draft animals. hand tools and the skills to use them.

If it gets THAT bad, we’ll all be changing our diet. Pepsi & Coke will be retrenching big time.
