Beck requesting nonviolence
Glen Beck Radio | Today | Glen Beck

Posted on 04/29/2014 8:52:21 AM PDT by wastoute

Well, I will do it if no one else will. Beck is imploring us to drop the hate and anger.

First, I don't believe it was anger in my heart that made me want to rush to Bundy's side upon learning SWAT teams were terrorizing him and his family. I do believe it was love for my grandchildren and their posterity than made me consider putting my life on the line.

I do believe that nonviolence requires several things to work. Ghandi knew his "audience" was the folks back in England who would find violence against him and his abhorrent. MLK knew the Christians of America in the early 60s would see the tactics of the Bull Conners abhorrent. Certainly, my parents did. So AN HONEST MEDIA is the first requirement of non violent resistance. Second, an authority that will respond to the passions stirred by that honest media. Anybody wanna place their grandchildren's lives in the hands of this regime?

I don't know which media Beck thinks will fulfill the first requirement. I know this is what he is trying to do with The Blaze I I love him for it. I pray for his success daily. I doubt his effort has enough momentum to carry this freight. As to the second requirement, see above. Would you trust the folks in DC with your grandchildren?

Our Saviour asked us to "be wise as serpents and harmless as doves". He asked us to love our enemies. At the same time allowing murder and corruption to continue is "conspiring to commit murder and corruption".

If I could be convinced there was a chance for nonviolent resistance to prevent another Waco or Ruby Ridge I would be all for it. At the same time I will not see another Waco and do nothing.

The question is:

Is this Beck’s way of saying “Keep your powder dry” or is this his way of saying “Better to Capitulate than to instagate” ?

Glenn calls for patriotism and then tells people to back down when patriotism shows up. He needs to make up his mind.

I think he needs to go rest somewhere. Listening to him is stressful.

Beck has turned himself into a no-entity who’s in love with himself.

All the violence in this situation came from the BLM agents who tasered and set dogs on protesters. This was after they set up fenced in “free-speech” zones.

What I think this is is Glenn Beck once again parroting talking-points coming straight from the White House. While you’re at it Glenn why not request that we not molest children, not beat our wives and not sell drugs at elementary schools?

From J Mayhew's 1750 essay A Discourse Concerning Unlimited Submission and Nonresistance to Higher Powers

. . . Let us now trace the apostle's reasoning in favor of submission to the higher powers, a little more particularly and exactly. For by this it will appear, on one hand, how good and conclusive it is, for submission to those rulers who exercise their power in a proper manner: And, on the other, how weak and trifling and unconnected it is, if it be supposed to be meant by the apostle to show the obligation and duty of obedience to tyrannical, oppressive rulers in common with others of a different character. The apostle enters upon his subject thus--Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers; for there is no power but of God: the powers that be, are ordained of God. Here he urges the duty of obedience from this topic of argument, that civil rulers, as they are supposed to fulfill the pleasure of God, are the ordinance of God.

But how is this an argument for obedience to such rulers as do not perform the pleasure of God, by doing good; but the pleasure of the devil, by doing evil; and such as are not, therefore, God's ministers, but the devil's! Whosoever, therefore, resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist, shall receive to themselves damnation. Here the apostle argues, that those who resist a reasonable and just authority, which is agreeable to the will of God, do really resist the will of God himself; and will, therefore, be punished by him.

But how does this prove, that those who resist a lawless, unreasonable power, which is contrary to the will of God, do therein resist the will and ordinance of God? Is resisting those who resist God's will, the same thing with resisting God? Or shall those who do so, receive to themselves damnation! For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good; and thou shalt have praise of the same. For he is the minister of God to thee for good...

Fascinating counterpoint to Mr Beck's pleadings - addresses many question I have, anyway. Entire speech available online.

Beck loves the Founders but decries violence? Where does he think the country came from, Ghandian nonviolence or the barrel of a musket?

This is Beck's way of saying "I am holier than thou."

Widespread non-violent resistance is the most effective path to overthrow a tyrannical government. Look what it did for Ghandi, for Poland in the days of Solidarity, for South Africa, and for Egypt very recently.

Violence usually involves small numbers of participants and gives the government the edge, so should be the last resort.

However, the non-violent resistance must involve large numbers if it is to be successful. When the time comes, Americans must show the same intensity and bravery as Ghandi's people, as the Poles, as the citizens of Cairo. Government officials quake when large numbers demonstrate -- that's why the Dems fear the Tea Party so much.

Thank you. I am not prone to vanities but I felt compelled to respond.

I don’t see running to my neighbor’s house on fire to lend a hand as being motivated by hatred of fire.

Again, thanks for the eloquent refence. He describes our current regime pretty well.

Ghandi had the British fair play on his side.
Clive Bundy has the corrupt Harry Reid against him and he is willing to murder the family to get that land.

Over 200 armed men show up!

Violence is sometimes necessary. What is needed at this time is the consumption of more meat, militarism, with real fighting letting certain peoples know the time for play is over and governance is really a serious business.

Beck is now a licensed concealed carry person in Texas. He would danrwell use it if his family or he was under attack. America is most definitely under attack by enemies domestic. Beck is just too sold out to the oligarchs’ pacifist agenda for control of the masses to tell you that straight. He serves a purpose for the oligarchs.
