ELK CITY, Okla. - An online firestorm over a youth baseball teams fundraiser, the prize an AR 15 rifle.
During practice Catch cultivated his curve ball while Tayte worked on his fielding. They were getting ready for a big Saturday game
But the topic sparking the most conversation is the teams fundraiser. No baked brownies or lemonade stands, the Elk City Outlaws are raffling off an AR 15 riffle.
Concerned parents called NewsChannel 4, others quickly showed outrage online.
One person wrote: Why in the world would you have 6, 7, 8 & 9 year olds selling raffle tickets for an assault rifle?
Others said it sends the wrong message and its teaching them its Ok to raffle off semi-automatic machine guns that were made to kill men
Some even questioned the parents sanity stating these parents need their heads examined
We caught up with head coach Denny Geno. This is western Oklahoma. Theres a lot of people that carry guns out here and are proud of their guns.
He said most of the people in the area support the idea. If you raise your kid the right way and they understand the safety then I dont think there is a problem with it .
He also clearly explained the rules. It says on the ticket all ATF rules must apply so if they do not qualify they do not win, said Geno.
If they dont pass the background check, they forfeit the prize.
I can see where those parents have concerns especially if they werent brought up around here, said Andy Shelton. Hes Taytes father
For some people guns are just not their thing, but for people out here its a popular sport, hobby and activity that a lot of families enjoy.
That was the sentiment shared around town
Christy Ham said, I ended up getting my son a little bitty 22 when he was four years old. We enjoy guns and teach our kids safety.
As for the team they plan to dust the criticism off their gloves and continue mastering those curve balls and home runs.
Brother Dave’s used a peep sight.
Don’t be speechless the doofus that wrote that comment seriously means it & their vote cancels out yours . As for the idiot who asked why the kids were raffling a AR-15 the answer is obvious TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE TEAM.
I was at a garge sale last yr here...The guy in charge was about 50...he was talking about getting his permit to carry.....his sister showed up...she is a teacher here...for 3-4 grade....Now read this careful.....Whenever
her brother or I would say the word -gun-.....she would cover her ears...and rapidly stamp her feet...on the floor.
Im not kidding.....it went on for 20 min.....if we said the word -gun-....she would do the ear cover dance...this woman is in charge of teaching children..In public school.....Shes about 40yrs old.
This is not exaggerated .
The society had well established taboo limits. There were things you just didn’t do back then, if you were sane. Todays insane progressives assume everyong is as batsh*t crazy as they are, so the taboos had to be eliminated to suit the progressive crazies.
"Detroit police are looking for a .357 Smith and Wesson Glock pistol........"
True story.......
You could make the Left smile if you raffled off a free abortion.
Why not? I've heard that S&W makes the best Glocks around, far better than that Austrian company that makes cheap polymer imitations. I don't even speak Austrian.
Too bad the news chick didn't give out the info on who to contact to purchase tickets.......
Liberals celebrate anything that kills an innocent baby. They hate it when a decent person can protect himself (herself) from a thug.
Somebody needs to get this information to her students.
My only request is they don’t use it until the umpire has left the vicinity. (I’m working a tournament there this weekend.)
Yeah, that does sort of give a whole new zip to “Kill the Umpire!”, doesn’t it?
Can you use a chocolate bar to defend your home and family?
Smith & Wesson Glock? Is that a Glock made by Smith & Wesson or a Smith & Wesson made by Glock?
Keep me out of this, I was merely the messenger..........LOL!
For a short while Western Arms produced this Smith & Wesson pistol. The real Sigma was Smith & Wesson's response to the Glock 17 and it was so close to the Austrian design, in some respects, that Glock successfully sued S&W for breach of patents.
I believe that the bulk of this indoctrination against guns comes from the government school systems.
