Bombshell Audio Proves ESPN Censored Key Part of Mike McQueary Profile
youtube ^ | 4-30-14 | John Ziegler

Posted on 05/01/2014 7:40:48 AM PDT by FlJoePa

Audio link of a recording made between John Ziegler and espn star "journalist" Don Van Natta before his release of his expose on Mike McQueary.

This is followed by another interview with Van Natta and Kevin Slaten (after the release of the article), where Slaten lays the lumber to DVN, and catches him in lie after lie.

Note to DVN: Don't play stupid. Especially with people (like Ziegler and Slaten) who know much more about this mess than you will ever hope to.

Someone finally proves (conclusively) that there was indeed a coverup within the js scandal. Of course that someone is John Ziegler (not the media) and the culprit is espn (not anyone at Penn State). Go figure.

How is that a coverup? The reporter and/or his editor decided it wasn’t relevant to the story.

1) Because DVN lied to Ziegler about it being put in the story
2) Because to completely discredit MM (which this does) invalidates espn's narrative
3) Because it's becoming obvious that the OAG blackmailed MM into exaggerating his testimony in effort to put js behind bars

Pretty evident that Paterno was guilty of one thing — having, by far, the most famous name in the story. Other than that, from what I have read, the truly evil guy was Sandusky (duh) and Penn State was run by a president that was totally not up to the task — Spanier, I think.

But that kind of heinous crime demands a public take down...and Paterno was the most visible/famous person associated with the institution.

I read recently that the guy prosecuting Spanier said Paterno had no part of the coverup....when will we see that on ESPN?

Oh yeah, it’s all a CONSPIRACY!
We’re ALL out to get JoePa vie McQueary somehow.
Yeah, that’s the ticket.

You won't. Ever. Also, if MM is such an outstanding witness, why aren't Spanier, Schultz, and Curley all behind bars? It's been 2.5 years and we still don't have a trial date.

The truth is that MM would be torn to shreds on any witness stand at this point, and the OAG clearly knows this - because THEY are the ones that used him to prop up their case.

These cases will eventually be dismissed on a technicality (due to legal counsel issues with Cynthia Baldwin), and the state (the CORRUPT state) will say, "well we tried, but this damn technicality screwed it all up for us, so this is what we have to do." It will all be a LIE.

How does it completely discredit the guy, and the reporter apparently planned to put it in his story but either he or his editor thought better of it.

Don’t know that I’d jump to the blackmail angle. If anything, his testimony seemed to downplay the initial response he had to the incident.

I have no dog in this fight (Ole Miss undergrad, Tulane law school)...but I have read some things in the last month that corroborate what Flajoe is talking about...

First, the prosecutor stated that Paterno had nothing to do with a coverup (reported in several PA papers, but not nationally)...

Second, the NCAA backing off the penalties against PSU. why would they do that? The cartel that is the NCAA has never reduced penalties in that manner before. Evidence of a rush to judgment in my view.

I don’t think it was neceasrily a conspiracy against Penn State...rather lazy journalism on the part of ESPN and total incompetence by the Penn State president and board...

Just my two cents...Hotty Toddy....

If you were informed that there was some shenanigans going on in the shower with a child, what would your reaction be?
What was Paterno’s reaction?

It's also unprecedented that the NCAA has injected itself into what is a criminal case not directly involved with academic integrity or the maintenance of a level playing field for athletic competition. They are in uncharted territory and the ground beneath them is very shaky.

Nope. I want the truth.

JZ may be a lot of things to a lot of people on this board, but here’s what I’ll say about him:

For a guy with no connection to, affinity towards, or even mild admiration for PSU or Joe Paterno, he has done an incredible amount of work on this case.

He is one of the few that still look at an initial media report and say “Wait a minute!!”. He follows the truth to the point where he admits sometimes he doesn’t like what he finds, and the fact that it usually damages his career.

He loathes the media. Kevin Slaten (STL radio host who interviewd DVN) does as well. That is why they are the only two who were on this from Day One, and are still on it. Because they both see through the media’s lies for profit - and call them out on it.

There are Slaten interviews w/ “journalists” like Christine Brennen where there is nothing left but a carcass and a dial tone (guest hung up) at the end.

They both deserve credit - not just for this, but for standing up to the media and calling them out for what they are.

Too bad there aren’t more of them out there.

It's always interesting to me to see how many FReepers distrust -- even despise -- the media for political or geopolitical reporting but think that the Sports, Entertainment or Trade media are different animals.

They're not.

And we know from comments made by Al Michaels, Dennis Miller and Rush Limbaugh that people in sports media are every bit as liberal [read: untrustworthy] as their straight-news counterparts. Where did Keith Olbermann come from, again?

In the case of things like Benghazi or Fast and Furious you really have no choice but to rely on the media in one form or another, because you can't do any of the research yourself. This isn't true of Paterno's case; all you have to do is actually read the material in the Freeh Report [Not the editorial masquerading as the "conclusion," but the actual content of the report.] If you're objective, you'll discover that Freeh found no evidence whatsoever that Paterno participated in any cover-up. Unfortunately, too few people are willing to stand at the figurative jail-house door and face down the disgusting lynch mob that congregates on chat-boards [and sadly, even FR] every time this topic is raised.

ESPN themselves are guilty of looking the other way in a high-profile child abuse case involving Syracuse long enough to allow the statute of limitations to expire when they had the smoking gun in hand. ESPN is, quite simply, vile and have zero room to be criticizing anyone.

Thanks Fred. Even here, too many people come into a story w/ preconceived dislikes, or notions, or jealousies maybe.

When a story like this swings their way, they hop aboard w/ no questions asked. Even if the delivery men are as untrustworthy as freeh and espn.

But my understanding is he told the AD and also the acting head of campus police and was aware the President of the university knew...

The the proseuctor of the president comes out and says Paterno was not part of a cover up...

Suffice it to say, I more inclined to believe that lazy/shoddy/yellow journalism and ivory tower incompetence sunk Paterno...

Since any such information that I had not personally witnessed would be considered "heresay", I would immediately notify my superior.

What was Paterno’s reaction?

The same as mine would have been, he notifided Curly, the university's AD.............

My opinion is strictly prejudicial since I know full well what a false accusation of child molestation can do to an individual's life..........

What would I have done had I been Paterno? At my first whiff of these shenanigans I would have fired Sanduskey, denying him ALL access to University facilities, and I would have gone to the police inside and outside the University. He failed in a primary responsibility, IMHO.

You need to familiarize yourself with the facts; which you clearly aren't.

Paterno could not fire Sandusky because Sandusky did not work for him at that point.

Paterno could not deny Sandusky access to University facilities because access to facilities was part of Sandusky's separation contract with Penn State and had nothing to do with the football program, Paterno, or even the Athletic Department. Short of a lawsuit by PSU, Sandusky could not be denied those benefits.

Finally, you make the assumption that most other know-nothings at FR make about PSU University Police. Penn State isn't some podunky little community college. There is no other law enforcement body with jurisdiction inside Penn State except the Pennsylvania State Police, who can't be called in by Joe Paterno or anyone else except the University Park Police. PSU is a home-rule municipality of its own standing. It has four voting precincts, its own zip code, its own governance structure and its policemen are sworn law enforcement officers, not rent-a-cops.

Here's the real scenario, not the fantasy that occurs in the petty little dictatorship of your imagination: An intern comes to you with a story about a former employee who is widely respected in the community, and his story at that point is far from the dramatic presentation he's claimed in public in 2012. This is hearsay as far as you're concerned. You saw nothing. A responsible person understands that decent people have their reputations destroyed by these kinds of stories all the time. In fact, Janet Reno became Attorney General on the basis of child sexual abuse claims against daycare providers for which they served decades in prison, and the testimony of literally dozens of children and social workers was later found to be completely false.

If you're a responsible person, instead of flying off half-cocked, you put your intern in touch with the highest possible authority with jurisdiction. Paterno did exactly that. All of the people who claim Paterno did nothing forget that Mike McQueary was the one who actually claimed to have seen a crime, was the one who actually spoke to University Police, and who did nothing for ten years -- and would have continued to do nothing had he not been pressured by prosecutors to do the right thing.

Get off your high horse and take off his blinders, and yours.
