Golden Retriever Forms Incredible Bond With Abandoned Kitten [w/video]

An adorable kitten that was abandoned by her mother has a new loving companion to take care of her—a Golden Retriever named Ponzu.

Ponzu’s owner, known online as Jessiepon, took in the sweet-as-pie kitten and decided to name her Ichimi. Ponzu immediately began to bond with the tiny feline—playing with her and cuddling with her nearly every moment of the day.

According to BoredPanda.com, Ponzu is mourning the loss of a former feline friend named Wasabi, who died suddenly in August. Jessiepon rescued Wasabi from a crow attack and Wasabi quickly gained Internet stardom for her bond with Ponzu.

Luckily the grieving dog now has a new kitten in his life. Jessiepon’s Instagram account is full of squee-worthy photos of the inseparable pair.

If we had to vote for the #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple, we would definitely mark the ballot for Ponzu and Ichimi

Why can’t people love each other like dogs and cats do.

To a kitten, a dog can be a lovely warm soft cushion on which to sleep. And dogs put up with it. I have seen dogs as charmed by a kitten as any human would be. Some dogs will lick a kitten all over, so it smells like a proper puppy.

Ha! I should have taken my own similar photos.

Cute really works, and cute plus purring is irresistible.

My golden retriever has a high prey drive. Cats are not safe around him.

Yesterday morning he found a nestling baby bird on the ground. He ate it in one gulp while avoiding me.

We bought him as a puppy and he was raised with ten cats but he does not like cats at all.

I’m seriously considering re-homing him, preferably with a man who loves to duck hunt.

For a lot of reasons I’m not going to detail, this knocked me out of my chair emotionally. It’s a long story, but thank you so much for posting it.
