Holidaymakers taking a break to Majorca this summer are being warned they face fines of up to £500 if they wander from the beach still wearing their swimwear.

New island regulations will see penalties handed out for anything from riding a bicycle on the pavement to wearing a bikini, swimsuit or Speedos or swimming trunks in the street.

You’re lucky if they wear speedos in some places. My older brother told me of a time he, his wife, and kid were vacationing on some Caribbean Island. He said one evening he took the kid out for a walk on the beach. They had to climb a little hill to get to the beach from their rented room. He said they crossed over the hill and as they went down the hill leading to the beach, he noticed a lot of people of both sexes on the beach. None of them had any clothes on. He quickly escorted his young boy back to their room. That’s how he found about how uh relaxed German tourists can be about beach “apparel.”

It’s about time. The worst offenders are Germans, followed by Brits. Americans are pretty tame and well behaved.

Basques are fine, and some of Spain’s best writers (such as Unamuno and Pio Baroja) were from Pais Vasco. But ETA is a radical Marxist organization that has crushed the life out of most of the towns in Pais Vasco and has killed a huge number of innocent people. Just like the IRA in Ireland.

I hope you don’t cast your lot with them...

Yes they are. Even the attempted coup d’état in 1981 was a misguided attempt to set some order during that fateful month of July when Spain was transitioning to a democracy. And the conspirators surrendered as soon as the king (their cic) ordered them to.
