Fed Up With War, Some Won't Pay Taxes (Flash Back)
AP via Washington Post ^ | 07/04/2007 | JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN

--snip-- 8,000 to 10,000 Americans refuse to pay some or all of their federal taxes over war objections. Internal Revenue Service officials say they don't have figures for that specific category, but earlier this year reported an overall noncompliance rate of 16.3 percent and estimated the annual tax gap at about $345 billion.

Peace activists are considering a mass tax resistance campaign next April to step up pressure to end the war in Iraq, Benn said.

I’m fed up with paying for free healthcare for other people. I need that money to pay my own medical bills. I guess I shouldn’t pay taxes either.

Pay the taxes you owe — but don’t owe any more than you legally have to.

I was interviewed by the AP for this article. They didn't get the conservative reactionary quote they wanted so my response didn't make it in the article.

I told the AP this country was founded on a tax protest. I supported the war and disagreed with the tax protesters but this was their choice and they should be ready to face the consequences if prosecuted.

I think we all can point to things our tax dollars are spent on, and say we disapprove.

I disapprove of Obama and Porkulus, for example. It seems we didn’t get any return on that “investment”. I disapprove of funding such as went to Solyndra, just so Obama and Democrats can gain credentials with liberals about how much they support “green” energy.

I disapprove of lots of federal spending priorities. I understand that liberals have their own set of priorities for spending.

Long term, I disapprove what appears to be debasement of the currency. We are planting the seeds for big inflationary pressures in our economy. Which will in turn make the buying power of all of our dollars that much less.

I guess I would tell these liberals, that elections have consequences. We conservatives have to pay taxes to support liberal programs, and they need to pay their taxes to support conservative policies of government.

If we get to pick and choose what items our tax dollars will be spent on, we will have financial anarchy in the federal budget process.

They weren’t and still aren’t “peace activists” — they are anti-American criminals who belong either in prison (for the tax evasion) or at the end of a rope (for treason).

Shhhh.

Don’t make any mention of tax-exempts, one of the key elements of control through which the financial elites control America.

The sheeple might start to figure things out.
