Lupica: Santa Barbara rampage shows it's too easy to get guns that make mass murder easier

Lupica: Santa Barbara rampage shows it's too easy to get guns that make mass murder easier There are no sure safeguards against madness, but it does not change the fact that it's too simple for sick people to get guns — legally or illegally — especially the kinds of semiautomatic weapons that Elliot Rodger used in his shooting rampage in Isla Vista, Calif

So this is Memorial Day in 2014, when we are supposed to remember and honor those who died serving this country and end up mourning the latest to die at the hands of a madman with guns in America, this time in Isla Vista, Calif., near the campus of the University of California at Santa Barbara. Once again, the only true gun control in America is when the shooter finally puts one of his guns to his own head and blows his own brains out. Wayne LaPierre, the gun nut who runs the National Rifle Association and is so often the face and voice of that association, likes to say that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, as if the principal at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the late Dawn Hochsprung, could have saved herself and those children if she’d just been packing.

People kill people!

I have not killed anyone and have access to guns. (as soon as I can get them from the bottom of the lake)

Good points. The liberals don’t understand that the mentally ill and deranged people will find other ways to do violence. They will not refrain from deranged acts if they don’t have a gun.

News reports from Santa Barbara are ignoring that the perpetrator stabbed 3 people and ran somebody over with his car.

I’ve never heard of Mike Lupica, but if this emotional liberal thinks it’s easy to purchase a firearm in either California or New York City he’s deluding himself.....although I’m sure the gang bangers have no trouble getting firearms illegally.

Mike is a very "well-respected" sports columnist for the New York Daily News, a paper I wouldn't wipe my ass with. This isn't Mike's first time using his column as a soapbox to grab your guns.

If you locked up the mentally ill you would have to lock up about 90% of liberals, and no I’m not joking.

Very few liberals have an actual thought process to reach a conclusion.

They reach their conclusions strictly on emotions.

Liberals basically have the mind of a child in their thought process.

This guy's portrait is a composite of the face of every liberal journalist/academic/bureaucrat/metrosexual and wanna-be fascist I've ever met.

Note the steely-eyed, smug, arrogant, "I know better than you, peasants" look on the face.

yeah I’m sure the culture of moral bankruptcy and violence perpetuated by Hollywood and Entertainment companies have nothing to do with people acting out real life scenarios that seem to mirror HOLLYWOOD movies and video games. I doubt powerful anti psychotic drugs being administered to a large percentage of young boys has anything to do with it either. Gimme a frickin break.

Guns legal in Cali-check.
Guns pass Cali safety rules-check.
BATF forms filled out-check.
10 day waiting period completed-check.
NICS required background checks done-check.
10 round magazine rule observed-check.

So how did it work out for you all in Santa Barbara!

And it all began with three stabbing deaths.

Yeah... he has a certain Alan Alda look to him, don't he? Notwithstanding his liberal soapbox douchebaggery, he is an excellent sportswriter. I would love to hear what Don Imus has to say to him the next time Mike calls in to the show.

I thought Lupica was a sportswriter and a bad one at that. Why doesn’t he go play footsies with Costas?

Once again, the only true gun control in America is when the shooter finally puts one of his guns to his own head and blows his own brains out.

No. Cops with guns finally had him cornered ending his spree. That he shot himself was after the fact. Guns whether in the hands of cops or individuals often stop criminal activity. These psycho murderers plan their actions and part of the plan is to head for gun-free zones.

Also the guns used in this rampage aren't on anyone's list to be banned except maybe the most fervent anti gun nuts. As far as easy to get, if the guy didn't have a criminal or psychiatric record what is Lupica proposing?

Lupica would have curled up in a ball and pissed his pants if he was the principal of Sandy Hook. That's why he can't believe the principal could have saved lives if she had a gun in her hand. An armed principal would have presented that faggot Lanza with a challenge instead of just a target. Lupica is a coward.

So the Hollywierdo father says that his spawn would not have gone on the killing spree if there were more gun laws.

Father blames government ‘idiots’ as California town mourns killings

“Martinez said his son died because Congress had failed to act after a mentally ill gunman killed 26 people in December 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

“These people are getting rich sitting in Congress. And what do they do? They don’t take care of our kids,” he said.”

I mistook the news story that the person wanting more gun laws was the father of one of the victims instead of the father of the killer..

Imus isn't any better than Lupica. Just another rich guy who has body guards.

Or rather a harsh reminder that the war between Heaven and Hades is made visable from time to time in horific mass shootings.

What we are seeing is demonic controled folks.
