PLANO The handwritten sign over the bar at Scruffy Duffies in Plano read: "I like my beer like I like my violence. Domestic."
The words are now gone, but their impact lingers.
"I was like, 'Oh my gosh, do you see this?'" said 24-year-old Courtney Williams. She couldn't believe what she saw on the chalkboard inside Scruffy Duffies Saturday night.
Williams was offended.
"How does someone think it's OK to put something like that up there?" she asked.
Williams asked the female bartender who had written the sign to erase it. Then Williams asked two managers.
They did not take it down.
Williams left the establishment at the Shops at Legacy and posted every detail along with a photo of the sign on Facebook.
That post has gone viral.

But I didnt hear her demanding action from the government and I didnt either.
I haven’t read the link, but THAT’S overreaction. Just erase it, apologize and don’t do it again and move on. What’s so hard about that?
BTTT
This PC hypersensitivity boggles the mind.
I sure am glad I’m on my way out. Only 3 1/2 more years to go until I hit my three score and ten.
That the sign was written by a women bartender on a chalkboard. .
And that women also commit domestic violence, particularly the type of woman that also works as a bartenders in a dive bar.
Bottom line is a lot of female bartenders in local dive bars like the project that tough chick persona....and the guys love it
It had a sign behind the bar;
Most of the gals who worked there were little bit tough, no shrinking violets that crew.
Of course there are limits to everything, and it can matter how (and when -- like in relation to something else) one says a thing (and who says it too) as much as what's said itself.
my line to a buxom female friend
Me: I like my women like i like my coffee
Her: Hot and Black????
Me: No, In jumbo cups
It gets a laugh
I’m as nauseated by the “all men are batterers” crowd as they come...but that sign’s a bit over the top.
It didnt escape my notice.
And the best jokes about a group were always told by members of that group. Then the left segregated humanity into oppressors and victims, and THAT'S NOT FUNNY replaced humor.
That’s an oldie.
I’m at 7%.
That’s pretty good. I was 12%.
But I don’t care.
ROTFLMAO!!!
I think it’s inappropriate also.
If I stopped in for a drink I would tell them so. If not removed I would never return and share my opinion with anyone I knew who did go there.
It’s one thing to be macho, and even a bit lighthearted, but we are talking about domestic violence.
Sorry, that is never acceptable. Besides, it is not macho, it’s cowardly.
LOL! Yeah. “Let’s eat, Grandpa!”
You mean no one has used the oldie
“What do you tell a woman with two black eyes”
(Pause)
“Nothing, you already told her twice.”
Don’t slag on me, its not my idea.
So until someone gets that right not to offended amendment passed this is still America and people still have the right to be stupid and offensive, just look at our politicians. You likewise have the right not to patronize and tell anyone who will listen how you feel. As I said it's still America, not Amerika.
Agreed. I did not mean to insinuate you used the word macho. I was responding to my own reference to it.
Like you, I believe we live in a free country. As I said, I would leave and urge others not to go, but would never ever expect the authorities to shut them down by force.
I believe in capitalism, so I would hope the the loss of business would either force them to remove the sign, or be forced to close due to lack of business.
As a Christian, I believe that regardless of who causes domestic violence it is wrong. Believe me, I know that there are many women who are guilty of abusing their husbands.
Prisons are chalk full of women who murdered their spouse.
Shock humor is intended to be offensive. The offensiveness is the entire point. The fact that some do not know how to deal with that offense is what makes it fun. However, some (mostly Liberals) do not like for free people to have their own kind of fun. For Liberals, what they like should be mandatory, and what they don’t like (particularly anything that doesn’t “sound good”) must be forbidden. Freedom, and the Pursuit of Happiness, are very very low on their priority list.
