DoubleTap Defense LLC should get some kind of award for having one of the clearest product names ever. The St. Louis, Mo.-based company’s Tactical Pocket Pistol, as it is called, enters a very active concealed carry firearms market with a unique offering — basically, a high-quality, powerful derringer-style pistol.

The key to the double tap is not so much the speed of shooting two shots, but rather the effectiveness of putting two shots into a specific target. Yes, and I think I NEED one too. Already have a derringer in .38 SPL, but like you said, you have to cock it, so it’s slower than this new gun. Just presenting the gun at close range would most likely defuse most threats, but the two quick shot...from a backup gun to my .45 XDs. Seems completely, unnecessarily perfect!
The Remington was just powerful enough to bring into the wound the lead bullet. dirt from unwashed skin, bacteria and all sorts of other nasties. Blood poisoning is why men were afraid of the Derringer.
Elmer Keith said that an old barber taught him about the Derringer. The pistol would make a pop and the bullet would barely enter the floorboards of the shop.
Just get a Sub 2000 in Glock 40. It folds up to sixteen inches yet takes 22 round mags and runs all day long.

A hand held 50???? That’s gotta hurt when fired. The only rifle cartridge hand gun I’ve ever seen fired a 30-06 round, mag fed Desert Eagle. But then the DE does have a .50 model (the movie SNATCH)
I remember my dad just firing the thing like crazy with no jams. He did change the recoil spring from an 18 something or other to a 23 something or other. Anyway, it’s a neat firing carbine, no kick and you can’t hear it 50 yards away. Effective range is about 75yds.

This thing is too heavy for a pocket pistol and holds only 2 rounds.

Nope, not yet. The Hi-Point carbine comes in .45 though. With the proper bullet and charge, the 40 is all you’d need.
If you have to have something smaller than, say a Walther PPK, then it might make sense. It doesn’t look like it should be that expensive to make so maybe a similar design could be made which functions well for only a $180 or so.
My Caliber of choice? .32 H&R magnum. Then you can use several different cartridges in it according to how much recoil you could stand.

That two shot thing. Looks hard to aim; guy would have to be right on top of you, anything smaller than .45 you might as well use harsh language. If you miss then what? Go for your hold-out 1911?
I believe I would prefer a Walther TPH if you can find one. It is probably about the same size as the derringer yet holds 7 .22LR cartridges and is double action/single action which I prefer.
