New version will be out in .410 whereas current models are in 9 mm and .45. Because of the slim profile, I have some interest in this gun. Just got a Glock 42 and had some issues in 2% of the firings while breaking it in. Simplicity of this gun also appeals as there is little to go wrong. Hope to have an opportunity to try one in a few weeks.

I know, .40 is a fine caliber but I don’t own anything in .40 and I’m reluctant to add another caliber to my ammo hoarding obsession. :)

Might make for a good back-up/hideaway gun?

Is this the one made out of titanium, or am I thinking of something else?

Novelty gun. About as big as a .38 snubbie or a .380 or 9mm pocket pistol so why bother?

The problem with the .40 is it is too powerful for a light gun. I have a Star Firestar in .40 cal. It is accurate and reliable and it is also compact.

The only trouble is it feels like a lump of lead. It is really heavy all out of proportion to it’s size. It could possibly concealed in a holster but it is too heavy for a pocket.

On the other hand, the weight makes it pleasant to shoot and it is about as powerful as you would want in a gun that size.

Now that you mention it, it’s not a plus for that usage.

I’d have to hold it, to gauge its feel in my hand.

“15-ounce weight”

Probably not.

I have a compact Zastava CZ999 Scorpion in .40 S&W. It has a ported barrel, which does a great job of controlling the recoil. It is built on an alloy frame, and weighs only 24ozs. I carry it in my Kakadu Gunnworn pants and shorts, which have holsters built into the pockets. Its a pretty handy setup and gives me more firepower than my .38 snubby that I wear other times.

The DE .50 is real. I saw it along with that DE in 30-06 at Outdoor Sports in Seattle.

Holt Bodinson wrote a recent article (basically a reprise of his 1990 Gun Digest piece, but who hasn’t mined past stuff?) about the .41 Rimfire cartridge and it apparently has a bit more get and go that most folks think.

I've got one of those in the newer style. Accurate as hell.

The DE .50 is real

Heh heh heh. Laz can attest to this. There's even video someplace.

Thanks. I was on my phone with a shaky Internet connection so I couldn’t find it. From the reviews, I think that I’d be looking at the 9mm version. :=) It sounds like a real handful in .45 cal.
