An Article V convention, also known as the Convention of States, has quietly become a political inevitability, as state legislators all over the nation consider how to rein in the federal government’s unprecedented overreach and abuse.
Last week, a group of over a hundred state legislators – most appointed as delegates from their states – came from all over the nation to Indiana to prepare for the Convention of States. The legislators, who hailed from thirty-three states, attempted to establish the structure and rules of a convention. Though Article V is clear about Congress’s duty to call a convention upon two-thirds of the states passing applications, each convention sets its own rules once it convenes.
Though Convention of States support is mainly comprised of Republicans, Democrats and independents are joining the cause as the IRS scandal, the NSA, privacy concerns, and other instances of federal government’s overreach dominate the news.

The so-called “tea party” is actually comprised of disaffected people from both major parties who want to reign in the Feds. I’m all for it. I say “so-called” because “Tea Party” is often a badly-applied, misleading term, like “racism.” Even “conservative” doesn’t cut the mustard in this case.
Yes Article fivers have no idea what they are asking for. The only reason Dems are joining up is to try to subvert any rollback of the big govt police state.

The first is from the American Legislative Exchange Council, a conservative pro-business group. This document has been sent to every state legislator in the country.

The second is a 1973 report from the American Bar Association attempting to identify gray areas in the amendatory process to include an Amendments Convention. It represents the view of the ruling class of 40 years ago. While I dislike some of their conclusions, they have laid out the precedents that may justify those conclusions. What I respect is the comprehensive job they did in locating all the gray areas. They went so far as to identify a gray area that didn't pop up until the Equal Rights Amendment crashed and burned a decade later. Even if you find yourself in disagreement with their vision, it's worth reading to see the view of the ruling class toward the process.

Since you seem to stalk my comments and by the way its flattering you should know that my solution is very simple. Follow the Constitution specifically the 10th Ammendment state sovereignty. By the way many constitutional experts agree with me. We do not need to be amending the constitution to save the Republic.
I would urge you to simply advocate for the states to nullify all of the illegal and unconstitutional laws, regulations and Eo’s that are being handed down by an out of control Federal govt.
Also you might want to revisit the 1st Amendment which gives even me the right to freely express myself. Or maybe you plan to get rid of that pesky item at your Article V convention. I have no plans to shut up about something I think is a poor idea just so Mark Levin can sell some books.

Then why did you just ask me to stop commenting on this thread? You had a problem about a half hour ago until I corrected you.
For your information the reason people voted for the 17th Amendment in the first place is because they were so upset over the cronyism and corruption going on under the policy of the state legislatures selecting the US senators. Now the people who want to repeal the 17th amendment and let the state legislatures go back to selecting the US senators are doing it for the same reason. Its a catch 22.
As long as you have a lawless President and a bureaucracy that is too large and run by Progressives they are not going to follow any amendments to the Constitution anyway. They are totally ignoring the Constitution now.
The states are slowing starting to step up and assert their sovereignty. Its slow but like a snowball it will gain speed along the way.
We’ll just agree to disagree on the methodology...
A repeal of the 17th & term limits will eliminate many problems we have in DC. Many constitutional scholars agree with that opinion.
Unless we have a congress that is willing to take back it’s power from the Executive Branch, the president will continue to consolidate power in both the Executive & Judicial branches... Congress is almost irrelevant now...
