I may be mistaken, but I’ve heard that soccer teams (both club teams and national teams) may be held responsible for the conduct of their fans. It’s a rule that is meant to stop hooliganism, etc.
I believe in Soccer they actually sanction the team for the misconduct of their fans, which I always found a bit bizarre since a crafty opponent could easily "sabotage" a rival by having some of their fans pose as fans of the other team and misbehaving.
A friend of mine said he was at a bar in Mexico, and he refused to buy a drink for a B-girl. She asked him if he was a “maricon”. He thought she had asked him if he was an American, and he replied “yes”.

If the Mexican fans would show as much passion for cleaning up their country as they do for soccer then one day North America will be a true economic powerhouse. Reminds me of forty eight years ago when some of my Military friends went to Juarez for the first time.
They just wanted to tour the town so a Taxi driver asked if they wanted a ride to “see nice girls-s”.
‘Not now.” they said.
