The recent passing of the lovely Martha Hyer along with the upcoming 45th anniversary of the moon landing provides the inspiration for the pick for this week's feature. Featuring the memorable effects and figures of the late great Ray Harryhausen, this memorable sci-fi adventure was one of Miss Hyer's most popular films and one where she got to be the primary instead of the secondary leading lady. It's also fun in retrospect to see how 1964 filmmakers and viewers imagined something that would become reality only 5 years later. You'll have to sit through a few Asian KFC commercials before the film starts. Enjoy!

That movie was eerily accurate and NASA is hiding what really happened when Buss, Neil and their beautiful passenger went inside of the moon!!

There was a movie about a trip to the moon that I saw as a kid on TV, which gave me nightmares. I don’t recall the name but it wasn’t this one. I suppose it was similar to the low-budget, objectively terrible horror films from the 50’s. When the crew got to the moon they had been told to not venture out in direct sunlight because they could roast to death, so they had to stay in the shadows. There were also creatures on the moon who were sort of giant rock monsters. (Maybe Harryhausen was involved in that.) Naturally these two plot elements worked together.
