On Tuesday night, former congressman Bob Beauprez beat a slate of Republicans including, most notably, former presidential candidate Tom Tancredo. Mitt Romney and other hated/beloved GOP establishment types had endorsed Beauprez, who was clearly the most electable candidate available to face John Hickenlooper. More importantly, the state GOP did not want Tancredos tedious one-note campaign dragging down its entire ticket.
Still, this wasnt though you may hear differently another Tea Party v. Old Guard match up. What was different in Colorado? Where it mattered, the establishment choice was as conservative on issues as any other candidate running. Actually, paleoconservative Tancredos designation as a Tea Party favorite by the media was more a matter of perception or more probably lazy shorthand many journalists use to signify crazy. Because of his propensity for self-promotion, and the medias propensity to blow out every uncompromising statement he makes, the support Tancredo enjoyed among Republicans in the state was always overestimated. Especially by him. For instance, in 2010, conservatives broke out into a three-way battle between Tancredo supporters (and he ran on the Constitution partys ticket), the Tea Party (behind the deeply flawed Dan Maes), and the Colorado GOP establishment. That race had almost nothing to do with issues and everything to do with egos.

I have not. I haven’t been following things closely this year at all. I need to start listening to Peter Boyles again to get the latest scoop on things. :)
Can't bring myself to do it anymore. Holding our noses and voting for the lesser of evils is what has gotten us to where we are today. I'm done with that nonsense.
I haven’t heard anything, either. But it’s too early.
Tipton is certainly better than any Dem. opponent. We can continue to hold Tipton’s feet to the fire.
Good luck with that. It sure has worked wonders for Boehner, McConnel and the rest, right? No thanks. At least with the Dim, I know what to expect, won't be getting stabbed in the back, and we'll get where we're headed a whole lot quicker. Bring it on.
I have to agree that it’s better to let TSHTF and get it over with.
Precisely. We've been a part of propping up a fake system for far too long. Want REAL change? Let the fake system fall. Only then will we get back to REAL Conservative principles in this Country. I ain't saying it'll be easy, because it won't be. But, with the American spirit and will, we can survive.
But, with the American spirit and will, we can survive.
And we have the best blueprint ever designed to re-build on: The Constitution of the United States of America.
From the post by cotton1706:
In the study of the history of government and power struggles, what happened yesterday is nothing new. The question before us is "do we reward such behavior with another vote?"
My answer would be no. And I came to that conclusion some time ago (and have caught hell with many FReepers here because of it).
Basically, in the parlance of our times, voting for those who betray you is AMNESTY, though most would call it COMPREHENSIVE SENATE POPULATION REFORM, i.e. "we have to win back the Senate!"
By voting for such men as John Cornyn, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Lamar Alexander, Scott Brown, Thad Cochran, etc., you are essentially saying, "what you did is perfectly ok and you will have our support because you were clever enough to put an "r" next to your name."
I agree completely.
Any of those candidates want to ban pot?
Thanks for sharing that. It’s true enough.
'We don't sell flags.'
Then she wanted to buy our flag.
'Not for sale. Try an internet search.'
That's as close to the Tea Party either of them ever got.
I spoke to Tipton once. He didn’t like what I said.
He voted for the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act.
