PepsiCo Canada has launched “Doritos Roulette,” a new flavour edition in which most of the chips are nacho cheese flavored, while others are insanely hot.

Consumers are calling the chips “dangerous” and “a solid slap in the face” and hundreds of people are posting videos of themselves eating the chips on YouTube.

“Aside from the spice, these chips look and taste just like a regular Nacho Cheese Dorito,” according to a review by the blog The Impulsive Buy. “So you really have no idea what you’re going to get until you pop it in your mouth.”

The new flavor was launched in Canada last month. A PepsiCo Canada spokesman told us he couldn’t comment on whether they would be coming to the U.S....

Sounds like a recipe for a lawsuit when someone goes freaky-deaky over a chip.

Methinks I see a lawsuit in Pepsico’s future. Especially if they bring Doritos Roulette down here to the States.

Some of those user comments have labeled the “insanely hot” claim as pure hype.

If it wasn’t PepsiCo, I’d think it was a cool idea. (No pun intended)

If this works they could carry the idea over to their soft drinks. One in each six pack is 100 proof, laced with ipecac etc.

Not in Canada- our courts enforce “loser pays”. Lots of good stuff here that you can’t get in the USA anymore.

Meh. “Harry Potter” did it first (and no doubt other foods have gone this route in the past as well).

The “hot” chips are likely no spicier than the regular “hot” chips Doritos produces. They only seem hot in contrast to the “regular” chips they’re mixed with. So long as the bag is labeled properly, there should be no reason anyone would have grounds for a lawsuit.

If there's a warning label I see no problem. There's no warning labels on
those nice shiny Serrano peppers in the Grocery. If it says Hot, then those who
can read should understand what happens if they eat one. Or the wrong one, LOL..

They’re doing a test of two flavors here (nationwide?) No indication whatsoever as to what you’re buying in to. They are in silver bags, could be a new cheese flavor, pepper, or dog turds. Not buying them

Great idea. I buy these dried hot peppers from a local Italian restaurant. Most are mild, but occasionally you get a hot one. You deal with it. The family has accepted this as a sort of tradition. Don’t try if you don’t like hot.

“processed food” and “hot” never go together, those flavors are always candy assed...
