My USA owned and operated employer makes a lot of Chrysler parts though. Honda, VW, Ford, GM and a host of foreign owned electronics makers for many other auto makers as well. Jobs are jobs

Dodge is part of Chrysler which is owned by Fiat an Italian Corporation. I think what they are saying is that particular Dodge Model is Manufactured and assembled in America.
Yep. Its amazing how few FReepers have a clue about how manufacturing works. I made primarily Cadillac parts but also made Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and even Mercedes parts in the same union shop.
There is NO American made car with 100% “Made in America” parts, this includes all component parts both inside and out. Describe just one!
There aren’t any just like there are no cars made without union made parts.

My sister-in-law’s Camry has over 117,000 miles on it.
My 2003 Ford Crown Victoria has over 170,000 miles and only requires basic maintenance of oil, tires, brakes, etc.
I just made a 3,000 mile round trip with no preparation other than to check tire inflation. The car is still a pleasure to drive and averaged 24 MPG for the trip.
Your Camery May have been vssembled in the US, and your Crown Vic in Canada (check the VIN number fist digit is county of manufacture. 1 is US, 2 is Canada, J is Japan).
Cars all all international now, most new ones are made for global markets from parts made in many counties by investor owned companies with offices in many different countries.

There seem to be lots of 1990s Camrys still on the road.
My last car was an ’01 Echo; I put over 260K on it before it started to conk out. (I wasn’t very nice to it either.)
Well you just stated my argument to my brother in law.
I’m not going to collude with the American auto makers so they can manufacture a car with built in obsolescence. I finally got sick of having to change the fuel pump at 40,000 miles or all the other parts that start to wear out about 100,000 miles sooner than my Honda CRV.
If American cars go by the wayside its because their business model is poor and they cannot compete. Plus there will always be somebody else to come up and fill the vacumn.
There is a new 90% American made 3 wheel car that is going to go into production in Shreveport, LA at the end of 2015.
