Critics Hate 'America,' Public Gives Patriotic Docudrama A+
Breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood ^ | 7-7-2014 | Christian Toto

In case we needed any more proof of the disconnect between mainstream movie critics and the public ... enter America.

The new docudrama from the team behind 2016: Obama's America, earned some of the surliest reviews in recent memory. Critics sniffed the film was "odious," "hypocritical," and filled with "outright lies." One august reporter directly told readers not to see the film.

Here's how the critic at RogerEbert.com starts his review:

In 2012, political commentator, author, disgraced former university president and convicted felon Dinesh D'Souza

Others reveal their news biases directly, like this critique in the Salt Lake Tribune:

The real question for "America" is why like-minded viewers would pay money to hear the same conspiracy theories Fox News spews for free.

Yet the film earned an "A+" CinemaScore mark, something very rare in today's movie world. According to America's press team, the docudrama joins a group of 52 films (like Titanic, The King's Speech) which also earned that grade.

Best money I ever spent. I totally enjoyed it and I loved the history lesson. Oh yeah, and BTW, those “lies” are the truth.

Salt Lake Tribune critic Sean P. Means is the kind of sallow-faced, balding pillow biter you’d expect him to be.

I can’t be bothered to search his archives, but has he described Matt Damon’s anti-fracking movie or any one of George Clooney’s leftist paranoid fantasies as pandering to the MSNBC crowd (of which he is no doubt a member)?

It’s interesting that these “journalists” who are so quick to see the mote of untruth in this movie can so routinely fail to see the logjam of lies in obamateur’s administration.

I was listening to Erick Erickson on the way to work yesterday. He called the movie a waste of time that he wouldn’t go see because it does nothing to sway anyone’s opinion one way or another. Conservatives are going to love it, Liberals are going to hate it and nobody else is going to care one way or another.

Agreed. America’s two most prominent fake Indians in the same movie was awesome. Only one was “live” but it was still great.

Did anyone else get almost 20 minutes of previews at their theater?

By that logic, all of talk radio, the majority of politics, and most of the news are also a “waste of time”

I’ll watch it if it shows up on one of my premium cable channels, but I’ll agree, it probably won’t change minds one way or the other. HBO and Showtime frequently show pro-liberal documentaries. I don’t watch those. Libs most likely won’t watch D’Souza’s flick for the same reasons. Nevertheless, it would be nice to see a conservative piece on cable tv.

If the critics didn’t want anyone to see it then they all should have praised it. That’s a sure way to keep me away from a film.

Critics don’t write to either get people to go to movies, or to stay away from them.

They write to impress those within their social circles with their insight, taste and pithy commentary. IOW, it’s just a big circle jerk where their like-minded friends at tony social gatherings stroke their egos about how “brilliant” their most recent critique was.

That’s the ticket. No conservatives show up so that the libs can all say what a failure the film is. Good thinking, Mr. Erickson with your “sage” advice. Idiot.

I mentioned this before on another post but I think lib’s hate movies like this not just for the ideology expressed and lies exposed/truth revealed but because it’s a conservative that dares to compete in their chosen medium of “film” and then, on top of that, goes on to do an excellent job at the same time. It’s beating them at their own game and they can’t stand it. Conservatives are sadly lacking in the arts and higher education. Hopefully, this is changing.

Keen insight and I feel and do the same.

Anytime my wife and I see leftist movie reviews, I say "We have to see/get that.

That may be but even some of the libs in it admit that he was fair to them.
