Well, I tried again! Got through the geico commercial, saw two stacks fall, then the video froze. On comes a pop up about the video problem and asks this question...”Try again? I press OK and on comes another advertisement.

I’ve got it running simultaneously on Opera v12.15, Pale Moon v24.6.2 and Chrome v35.0.1916.153 m, and they all run like a hose. What browser are you using?

It’s gonna suck even more for Brazil when the hated Argentinans win.

In the demolition film clips, the one of the Vikings’ stadium going down, shows a worker near the top-middle-right frames as the structure was coming down around him, still standing on a landing, unscathed. I had to freeze it and replay several times to make sure that I saw what I thought I saw. Bet he caught hell for not getting out of there when *all-clear* warnings were given.

Pale Moon uses the FF engine, so it should work fine, unless you’re using AdBlocker or something like that. Sorry you can get it to run; some of the pyrotechnics are beautifully choreographed and structure falls perfectly orchestrated. The in-between ads suck, but that’s what a ‘mute button’ is for.

The shots of the power plants imploding reminded me of a problem we were given in Freshman Physics back in 1949. What is the tallest brick smokestack that can fall over in one piece? The key was to recognize that as the smokestack topples, if it's tall enough, the top will be forced to accelerate faster than the acceleration due to gravity. At some point the stress will exceed the shear strength of the mortar joints (assumed to be zero), and the smokestack will separate at that point. I can't remember the number, but I recall how to figure it.

Wow, that’s one hell of a physics problem! I just don’t remember much of anything from HS Fr Physics in 1963 (I was born in 1949).
