Did a Russian soldier's trigger finger blow MH17 out of the sky. US says separatists would struggle

U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power told an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council on Friday that the United States cannot rule out that Russia helped in the launch of the surface-to-air missile that shot down a Malaysia Airlines jet over eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board.

Power said the U.S. believes the plane was likely downed by an SA-11 missile fired from an area in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian separatists. She said Russia has provided SA-11s and other heavy weapons to the separatists.

Britain's U.N. Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant, who called the emergency meeting, was more emphatic on assessing blame for the crash. And Ms Power it is likely that Russian military personnel were at the controls of the missile battery that downed the airliner.

New intelligence seen by the New York Times, suggest a surface to air missile on Monday shot down a Ukranian military plane from inside Russia’s borders – just days before MH17 was blown apart. It is possible that the same battery was then moved into Ukraine, where it shot down the Malaysian airlines jet liner.

No evidence but it is Ukrainian government to benefit the most from the disaster.

No evidence? I can't remember, but are you, in fact, one of the frothing at the mouth Putinistas? I can't remember, but I think you are one of them, which explains the tinfoil hat you're wearing.

I don’t know the other one but if we’re related then I’d be a sister.

I’m surprised there are so many Russia apologists around here.

Yep -- or disinformation agents -- and they have chosen this moment to blow their cover and show their true colors --like McGruff who was zotted yesterday.

Bush was right. Putin would make a better friend than enemy.
Constant Russia bashing and Putin bashing is counter productive to world wide conservatism and preservation of western values, that it seems only the Russians are promoting.

It’s worse than that. I’ve met plenty, and lots of Spetnaz, and my 6 year old boy could perform far better. They are useless, lazy, drunks who couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag without far superior numbers.

They can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a rifle, and they lack training for most anything. There’s a reason they aren’t considered one of the best trained armies in the world, it’s because they’re not. That guy that’s been spouting this must be working for their side.

That prick McGruff finally rode the lightning? Finally! Now just 4 or 5 more of these freaks to go.

What do you want the US and Obama to do about this Malaysian airplane incident?

Just what they are doing -- demanding unfettered access to the crash site to begin with.

Is that asking too much???

Haha, 2 of my 3 tours were in the Balkans. The Russians are the most useless of any soldiers I’ve met. They lack discipline, determination, well, they lack everything. The only thing they care about is where the next bottle of vodka is coming from.

The unionized Dutch army was far superior.

I doubt it was intentional. They had shot down a Ukrainian cargo plane earlier in the week along with two fighters. They were just maintaining air control over the territory occupied by the pro-Russian insurgents. In war, sh*t happens. No doubt operational control was lax. It would be interesting to learn how far up the command chain the guys in charge of the missile battery had to go to get permission to launch.

A silly conclusion, but understandable with wrong data. Here's a secret for you... do you know that there are "ultranationalists" in Russia who are big fans of the Russian Orthodox Church? Maybe not that surprising. Nationalists are like that (but we conservatives are Patriots, FYI, there is a difference.) And did you know that these "ultranationalists" are publicly communists or "National Bolsheviks"? And did you know that these same National Bolsheviks support "Red Orthodoxy"? IOW, Communist Orthodoxy?

And did you also know that these same champions of Communist Orthodoxy also support.... paganism, and the occult in general, like Alexander Dugin?

Ladies and gentlemen, it is not wise to project our own world on the backward and bizarre world of Russian politics.

Nope, that isn’t too much to ask. I also believe that we could put stronger economic sanctions on Russia, not individuals, but on Russia. We could also reinstate the missile defense systems that Obama got rid of when being installed as dictator. Other than that war is the only answer.

But then who wants a war with Russia led by a dictator In Chief who told Dmitry that he could be more flexible after he was re-elected. The dictator sure shows no flexibility installing a clone of the Soviet Union in America.

Hey, one of the scummy Putinistas, who the other day was complaining that this "damned airplane" was taking the focus away from more important matters (because the Ukrainian-Russian issue is only important when Putin is not obviously the bad guy), is turning all hawkish now. Well done! Pretty sure you don't mean anything about the missiles and sanctions though, and, if we did, you'd probably tell us later that we're provoking the Russkies by putting them up and initiating WWIII or whatever.

There is no way to mistake a commercial jet flying at 33,000 feet still climbing as it is 5 minutes from passing out of your air space for a Ukrainian transport plane that would have to be dropping altitude and slowing down in preparation for landing.

No evidence but it is Ukranian gov to benefit the most from the disaster

Some of the TV newscasters and their analysts have actually been saying to exercise restraint in assessing blame without proof. Meanwhile, they're doing nothing to make viewers aware of the stuff Kiev has done to eastern Ukranians. Bad reporting, but not their worst ever..JMHO

..........Donald Rumsfeld was indicted for War Crimes and now can’t travel to many countries for fear of being arrested.

Putin should not only be indicted but arrested and put on trial and then, like Hussein, hung if found guilty by an International Court.

It helps that they probably do not take Russian propaganda, such as stories of Ukrainians crucifying Russian babies, that seriously. Probably you shouldn't either, otherwise you'll turn into more of a Putinista than you are.

Puny, I never posted one thing in defense of Putin. You are an unhinged dope.

Do I care about what is happening in my own country more?

You betcha! I won’t apologize for that.

By the way, do you post on any threads about anything American like our sovereignty?
