The shocks continue with Froning—now in 12th place, 44 points off of 1st. Will the champ be unseated this year?
Women are no complete on Sprint Sled 1 & 2. The top 3 women are unchanged. Dave Castro’s announcement for tonight’s WOD in the tennis stadium should be coming up in a few minutes.
Never mind, looks like the announcement will be in an hour. Tune in at 5PM Pacific!
Ironically, we just did a 2 x 100m sled sprint for our WOD at my CF box. 25lb plate on a Rogue dogsled out in the rear parking lot. That hurt a lot, even with a 9min break between each sprint. One guy couldn't even get up to get his second round in! That sled is amazingly good at destroying people!

Motoring the legs while leaning over with total body tension is rough.
Froning took 1st in the event, and some veterans took down some rookies, so the leaderboard has been shaken up quite a bit.
Jason Khalipa is now in 1st overall, Noah Ohlsen fell to 2nd place, and Josh Bridges is in 3rd place. With this victory, Froning moved up from 12th place to 4th where he's tied with Tommy Hackenbruck.
The women are coming up!
Would really like to see Froning win ...... Grateful for the thread and updates.
Stay safe Troop !
French Canadian gymnast Camille Leblanc-Bazinet won the event, fourth-grade school teacher Valerie Voboril took second, and 2011/2012 champion Annie Thorisdottir came in third. 2012's silver medalist Julie Foucher took sixth place which has shaken up the leaderboard.
Kara Webb held on to 1st overall, but Camille has closed the gap considerably and is only seven points behind 1st. Julie Foucher has moved into 3rd, but is about 60 points behind Camille's 2nd place spot, and former Olympican Anna Tunnicliffe is nipping at Julie's heels in 4th place--only four points behind!
Saturday should be very interesting!
MUSCLE-UP BIATHLON
12:30PM Pacific
Points Available: 100
For time:
400-meter run
18 muscle-ups
400-meter run
15 muscle-ups
400-meter run
12 muscle-ups
Each time the athlete breaks a set of muscle-ups they must run a 200-meter lap.
The women are complete on the Muscle-Up Biathlon. Tiffany Hendrickson won the event, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet took 2nd, and Mandi Janowitz took 3rd. Kara Webb had her worst finish this week at 25th. Oh, and my old coach Sheila Barden came in 4th!
Anyway, Kara’s poor performance in this event shook up the leaderboard again! Camille is now in 1st overall, Kara Webb is 2nd and over 50 points behind, and Julie Foucher is still in 3rd overall, and about 40 points behind Kara.
The men are up!
Due to Khalipa doing not-too-well, he dropped to 5th overall. Rookie Noah Ohlsen is back on top, Josh Bridges is in 2nd, and Scott Panchik has moved into 3rd. Rich Froning remains in 4th place, but the points are tightening up considerably. Froning is only 4 points behind Panchik and 32 points from 1st place.
Coming up next...
SPRINT CARRY
3PM Pacific
Points Available: 100
For time:
Sprint 100 yards
100-yard carry (100 / 60 lb. cylinder)
Sprint 100 yards
100-yard carry (120 / 80 lb. sandbag)
Sprint 100 yards
100-yard carry (150 / 100 lb. cylinder)
Women are up first!
The women are complete on the Sprint Carry. Interestingly, the top 3 finishers were in the earlier heats. Lauren Brooks took 1st, Christy Adkins took 2nd, and Mandi Janowitz took 3rd. Camille didn’t do too well, nor did any of the other top women, and, while the top 3 overall didn’t change, the points did tighten up.
Men are up!
And that’s it for the Sprint Carry event. Fayette-nam’s own Nate Schrader won the event, Tommy Hackenbruck came in 2nd, and rookie Will Moorad came in 3rd. Jorday Troyan lost several places when he dropped his 150lb cylinder just a few feet from the finish line, and Jason Khalipa completely fell over on the last movement. Froning came in 14th place.
Hackenbruck’s excellent performance shook up the leaderboard yet again. Noah Ohlsen is still in overall 1st, Tommy Hackenbruck has moved up to 2nd, and Josh Bridges is in 3rd. Hackenbruck’s move pushed Scott Panchik to 4th and Rich Froning to 5th. It’s still only 50 points separating 1st from 6th, so expect more leaderboard shifts!
The next event is still listed as “TBA” so we’ll see what evil Dave Castro has cooked up in a few.
Thanks for all the updates.

Awesome !
OK, so two events went down last night. I could try to track down all the craziness, but instead, I’ll just hit the highlights.
1) The Clean Speed Ladder was awesome to behold for both men and women competitors. Some of the finalists on the women weren’t surprising (Amanda Goodman, Elizabeth Akinwale, Annie Thorisdottir), but the fact that not only did little Camille Leblanc-Bazinet make it to the final round, but came in 5th overall was amazing! The big guys also dominated. It was the Jeff Evans and Neal Maddox show on the final round, but rookie badass Mathew Fraser was right behind them. I watched that guy in the Northeast Regional, and he is the real deal. Further amazing part of that event: Rich Froning didn’t make the final round—he missed the cut by 0.9 seconds! That put him in 9th place by default, but the only person who threatened him in the final round was Scott Panchik who came in 7th, so the damage to Froning was minimal.
2) The Push Pull event was rather unremarkable for the women, I thought, but the men really cranked it up. That 12-year old rookie, Cody Anderson, came out of nowhere with an early heat victory which was very impressive, but the last heat was the Froning/Bridges show. Bridges owned the strict handstand pushups, and Froning owned the sled pull. Bridges just barely beat Froning (by less than 2 seconds), but Froning was already 12 or so points ahead of Bridges. All the people Froning needed to beat, he beat pretty handily. The leaderboard was seriously shaken up after that event.
3) The women’s places appear to be fairly set. Unless Camille or Kara Webb have some serious issues today (always a possibility), then they’ll remain in 1st and 2nd, respectively. Annie Thorisdottir is in 3rd place, but Michele Letendre is only one point behind her and last year’s 3rd place finisher Val Voboril is only one point behind Michele. Annie will likely not win this year and making the podium will be a serious fight. Julie Foucher will need a small miracle to make the podium this year, unfortunately.
4) Rich Froning is back in 1st overall, but only by 5 points over 2nd place Mathew Fraser and 3rd place Josh Bridges is only 7 points behind him. It spaces out a bit more from there, but the men’s side of the house has been so unpredictable, who knows how it’ll shake out?
5) Rich Froning is in 1st place.
6) Rich Froning is winning.
